“Bad attitude bar staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013 via mobile

Very disappointed with the service and attitude from the bar staff. To much into themselves and their friends and not the customers.
Venue charges Sydney drink prices but no focus on customer service.
Disappointing because it's actually a nice venue.

“Should have gone to the bar”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

We were booked here for an after work dinner in the restaurant. This is in the back of the Grace, between the front bar, and the beer garden out the back. The bar is pretty good, with benches and stools. I'm not sure if the front function room and the open courtyard out front count as being part of the restaurant or the bar.
On a Thursday night before Christmas it was pretty busy, but had a good vibe. We were hungry and thought the small tasting plates looked good. I had a mini wagyu burger which was delicious, and some kingfish sashimi which was nice. My partner had some fried chicken, and some rather average terrine. Service was a little slow; we actually went up to the bar to get drinks, but weren't really sure if we were going to be served drinks in the restaurant - it seemed easier to go get them ourselves.

We were seated within view of the kitchen, so were watching orders go out to both bar and restaurant. Larger burgers and hot dogs were going out to the bar, and when one of our party asked if they could have the larger burger instead of a mini one, she was told they were only available for bar partrons. Even though it was a more expensive purchase, she was told "well, if you get one, everyone will want one". What the? Why not just serve the bigger burger in the restaurant? Finally after some discussion with a bar manager, my colleague got her burger, which for the record was fantastic. However, the rather snobby service attitude left a rather bad taste in her mouth. The waitress who had told her she "couldn't" have the burger had to serve it, and the slight surliness was a bit obvious. The bar manager was very accommodating, but it is a little disappointing that a simple request couldn't be fulfilled with a smile.

Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful otherwise. The desserts were lovely - the DIY doughnuts are a bit of fun.

I've been to the Grace a number of times, not long after it opened, when service was woeful (and I was open to reserving judgement as all places have teething issues), and more recently for high tea which was lovely.

Maybe if they can sort out some rather annoying customer service issues they can raise their rating.

“Might be a good bar but restaurant second rate”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

Very very disappointed in this restaurant. The space looks great. From other reviews people seem to think the bar is great. It was crowded the night we were there. I am very surprised that it rates second best in Norwood. We ordered steaks, the most expensive thing on the menu (probably the most expensive steaks I have seen anywhere in Adelaide), and they were ALL undercooked and very tough. Granted, the staff were concerned and refunded one of the meals. But we left hungry and disappointed and will never return.

“Hot and spicy- just add the seasoning!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012 via mobile

Great place, great wines, even better cocktails .. we love going here. Food is really good- modern twist on some classics and new things too but in my opinion all was under seasoned. Delicious once a pinch of salt, crack of pepper and slosh of hot sauce added .... Great for groups of a bigger size than two because I couldn't decide what to eat and missed out on some due to lack of stomach space !
