PHD (formerly Pho Bac Hai Duong) regularly gets listed in the best sources of pho in Sydney so I am surprised that I am the first to review it. A regular seafood pho contained a couple of plump prawn tails, some pieces of scored squid and a few pieces of fried fish as well as rice noodles in the broth. On the side to add as you please was a plate of chopped fresh chili, bean sprouts, fresh herbs and lemon slices for squeezing. It was a pretty impressive package, the only quibble being that to my taste the broth lacked some depth of flavour. This was more than offset by the price of $11.50, an absolute bargain. The large at $13 must be monstrous. Be aware that PHD is casual, crowded and does not take bookings but as it is open all day it is a fairly good option for a walk up meal. As well as pho, there is a full menu of other Vietnamese dishes but everyone seems to come here for the pho.
