“Lunch Stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

We were on our way to Langdale and had passed here many times before so deceided to stop for lunch and we were not dissapointed. Had a good selection both from the menue and "board" Our party of three were very pleased with our choices, only mistake we made was to order a bottle of wine as four large glasses of wine proved very expensive, the driver was on soft drinks. Staff were very attentive, the other diners all seemed satisfied judging by the clean plates returning to the kitchen. We will make this our regular lunch stop on future visits.

“Good food. Good value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

The Sun Inn was our local, while we were staying at a farm cottage near Crook, and we counted ourselves lucky to have it close at hand. Lots of olde worlde atmosphere, a warm welcome, good beer, and food that was a definite cut above pub grub at reasonable prices. You couldn't ask for much more.

“Sun Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

We always try to plan lunch here if we're in the area. Been coming for years and it's always good.
Possibly less choice and slightly more expensive but still recommended. Do try the local stuff like Lamb's liver, Cumberland Sausage, Potted Shrimps etc.. Good ales (Coniston Bitter, Wainwright) and friendly service. Only downside is the lack of food between 1430 and 1800, but I suppose they know their business.

“Great once again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

I don't know why this place isn't busier than it is! We always pop in when we are in the Lakes, it truly is a lovely pub, service with a smile, excellent Ales, Wines, Food and plenty of it!
We shall be back later in the year. Thanks to all!

“One of my favourites”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

I left feeling both full and satisfied, in wallet and in mind! We’ll certainly be back again, moreso when it comes to the summer I expect, though I’d hope to see some additions to the menu.
Curiously enough I’ve just been looking around the web, and it turns out they have an “A La Carte” menu, which has never been on offer all the times we’ve been, so this leads me to think that they slip into a resturant/fine dining mood when the evening breaks. So perhaps we will be back without the kids one evening to try that out! They've always had a very good selection of veggie options and every meal I've had has been spot on. They even bring bread out before the meal..I love it when that happens. Free Parking too, which is always a bonus!
