“A wonderful, rural B&B in the Peak District”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

This is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are very comfortable and everything is thought of and provided. Mrs Rona Cooper is very pleasant and produces a lovely, healthy breakfast (with choices) every morning. The area around the farm is breathtaking, the air is fresh and it is an idyll of quietness and peace. There are lots of places to visit in the area, from stately homes to museums and wonderful walks and hikes in the Peaks. I highly recommend Common Barn Farm for a long weekend or a full holiday.

This B & B is in a farm setting with A nice friendly atmosphere providing a good breakfast and very nice rooms. Situated in a nice rural setting. Ideal for all including families. There are good views from the farm and visitors are able to walk about property.

Myself and a group of friends enjoyed a lovely weekend here. We were made to feel very welcome and Rhona could not have been more helpful. Delicious vegetarian breakfast. Great views from the farm, local walks to Shining Tor and beyond. Robin Hood pub in Rainow is 20 minutes walk across the fields. Plenty of places to eat in Macclesfield and Bollington, only a short drive away. We had a leisurely Sunday morning as did not have to check out until 12:00.
Thanks Rhona for making our stay so enjoyable.

We stayed for the week, wonderful breakfasts cooked by Rona who was able to cope with gluten free and soya needs. Very comfortable and warm accommodation. Rona could not be more helpful. The location is great, walks from the farm or ideal position to access the south and north peaks. Wonderful scenery to be found along the back roads to reach local attractions, Buxton and Chatsworth House are easy to reach. We would love to come back in the future to explore further.

We came with our three year old and one year old boys who enjoyed being able to get close to the farm animals. Rona kindly showed us around the farm yard and was very helpful. The breakfast was lovely and the farm had a homely feel. The room was very nice and Rona had clearly thoughts of lots of things for a young family to do. Thankyou

The scenery from Cook Hill Cottage is just stunning. Hard to believe it's Cheshire! The cottage is like a Tardis...........spacious yet cosy. Great for entertaining with a very well equiped kitchen to cope with large family gatherings. The walks from the door are wonderful and varied. Jump in the car and only a short distance away many more things to do and see. We stayed a fortnight and did not want to go home!!
Every comfort had been thought of and Rona took great care to make sure our stay was perfect..............nothing was too much trouble. We will be returning.

This is an excellent little find, from the moment we walked in and were greeted by Rona we were made to feel welcome and like nothing was too much trouble. But be prepared as the approach from the main road is quite a long and bumpy one
We were in room 1 and it was very clean and comfortable, although the underfloor heating did make it very warm in there (we slept with windows open), and the pillows could have done with being replaced. There is a guest lounge for use which had a tv and computer, however we didn't use this as there were tv's in the room and free wifi all over the barn - however there was no mobile coverage at all (we are on orange and t-mobile).
The location is good for use of the surrounding peak district, and we visited Lyme park which is nearby. There is no evening meal available at the B&B, but there are plenty of places within driving distance where you can eat. Under recommendations from Rona, we drove to Sutton Hall (about 15 mins away) which had a very nice atmosphere and food!
The breakfast was pre-ordered the night before and we were given a tick sheet to chose what we wanted and asked to pick a time that suited us. When we arrived for breakfast, we were given juice, tea and coffee and there was a wide range of cereals available whilst waiting for our cooked breakfast to be brought out.
All in all a great little find :)
