We stayed at the resort for the past two nights after camping for two nights on the Island. We had three adults and four children.
To walk into a cool reception and receive a lovely refreshing face towel and glass of juice was a nice touch.
We stayed in a Chalet and 1 room close by. The chalet is large however the configuration is a large bedroom and then a large lounge that has one single roll away. We ordered an additional rollaway which worked well. The hotel is showing some wear and tear and I hope that the managing company will maintain the hotel as it needs repair and it would be a shame to see it slip into disrepair. Already there are things that can be done to help keep it up to standard.
The food and beverage and housekeeping staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and they welcomed us like family each time we saw them. We had lunch two days in the Dhow Restaurant and while the food was very nice it was obvious that there was a different chef / cook on for each day as the first day far exceeded the second in its quality and presentation but in saying that both days we had great food. The fish was amazing!
I think the Front Desk could be a little more informative about what is available etc, which could also help their revenue earnings (e.g. hire bikes).
There is a great display off the foyer of shells and other skeletons from turtles etc, that is very informative.
Sadly the beach strip outside the hotel is badly littered and while this is no reflection on the hotel it is a shame. Pollution on Oman's coastline is a serious problem and we saw the same while camping.
If I had one major request from the hotel owners it would be to install some shade over the pool. It is a lovely pool but the sun was extremely strong and with little ones some shade would be well appreciated.
It has a nice playground for the kiddies and we had a lovely grassy area in front of the chalet for the kids to play in the afternoon.
I would definitely recommend this hotel although I do think the rates are a little high for the direction the hotel is going, so please owning company put money back into the property to keep it to a standard where these rates are warranted.
