My boyfriend and I stayed one night at the King Robert Hotel to break up our journey home after staying in the Highlands. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. As other reviewers have commented the hotel is slightly dated and the decor a bit tired, but it is very clean and warm. The Internet access was free without the need for lengthy log on procedures.
We opted for the dinner bed and breakfast deal which was excellent value as the additional charge for dinner was £10 each, yet entitled us to anything off the menu to the value of £15 each, and the food was really good!
We caught the bus from just outside the hotel for the 10 minute ride into Stirling. We visited Stirling Castle which we would highly recommend. After our visit to the castle we were inspired to visit the Bannockburn Memorial which is next door to the hotel, but unfortunately it was being renovated and was totally covered in white plastic!
The breakfast was self service with everything you could want - bacon, eggs, black pudding, haggis, mushrooms, beans. Danish pastries, croissants, cereals, fruit juices, fruit. Toast was brought freshly made to your table.
All in all we had a lovely stay, which was excellent value.
