“Wonderful stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Make this your Betty's Bay home! We loved our stay here. We drove from Franshhoek to the coast not knowing where we were going to select for our home base in the area. When we came upon the Betty's Bay area, we knew we wanted to stay there because it is so scenic and serene. We selected a quaint street to veer down and stopped to ask some people if they knew of a place to stay. And we lucked out, it happened to be the Van Den Bergs! There is no sign out front so we had no idea it was a b&b! Serendipitous!

We stayed in the penguin suite, a self-catering suite. It was clean, affordable, well-appointed and in a great location! The hosts were magnificentl, offering welcome drinks and plenty of suggestions for things to do in the area. Lekker!

Room Tip: Stock up at the super spar in Kleinmont! For things to do, go to the penguin colony and the Harold...

Wonderful view of the mountains, surrounded by fynbos, peaceful and tranquil. Facility is kept immaculately clean, unit is modern, loved the big shower which always had piping hot water and fluffy white towels. Era and Raol were exemplary hosts paying attention to every detail and made time to spend with us. They treated us to sundowners on their upstairs patio as well as taking us to a beautiful part of the beach where we also had impromptu sundowners. A lovely part of the world and well worth a visit when passing through the area. Other great attractions were the Harold Porter gardens and the nearby Penguin Colony. If you are looking for serenity, calm and soul food stay here.

Room Tip: Penguin room has mountain views, whereas Honeymoon suite has sea views

A more friendly and spontaneous couple you could not wish to meet. Raoul and Era were so interesting and easy going that we could have chatted to them for many hours more. From the moment we arrived we were treated to a relaxing welcome drink on the patio followed by a delicious 'lamb potjie'. We even spotted a whale! Stayed in the 'honeymoon suite', which was most comfortable with crisp fresh linen and flowers plus all the accessories of a five star hotel, including a decanter of sherry and chocolates, to mention but a few of the many extras! They filled us in on all the local knowledge, from sea and surf to mountains and fynbos and the all important weather! The breakfasts too where most delicious.
We arrived as strangers and left as friends and hope that it wont be too long before we visit Betty's Bay and them again.

Room Tip: Honeymoon suite recommended if you aren't interested in doing your own cooking!

The van den Bergs left no stone unturned to make our short stay memorable. The Penguin suite was spotlessly clean, the beds and pillows superb, linen and towels sparkling white.

Lovely views of the mountain, good food and hospitality. The hosts handled our airport transfers and entertained us during the drive by sharing their local knowledge. We'll be back soon.
