“L'Autre Vie - fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

My friend, my daughter and I stayed at this lovely establishment last week. It was heavenly. The atmosphere is indeed supremely relaxed and our hosts Justin and Vanessa were wonderfully helpful and friendly. The good thing about L'Autre ...Vie is that it is tastefully decorated, extremely comfortable and welcoming, but there is plenty to see and do if one feels like more action. Personally I loved the bike ride through the vines and swimming in the pool, with an afternoon aperitif and then a barbecue for dinner on our last night. We celebrated my daughter's 30th and have recommended the place already to our friends back home. Well done Vanessa and Justin!

Every aspect of our stay at L'Autre Vie was fantastic. Justin and Vanessa are friendly and welcoming and gave us loads of useful advise about where to visit in the area, where to eat etc. The rooms are beautifully finished and comfortable and the setting is a lovely, quiet vinyard which we were free to explore. We had a thoroughly enjoyable bike ride around the surrounding villages which included old fortified watermills, Romanesque churches and a beautiful old chateau with wine tasting. The breakfast was sumptuous and although we didn't try it ourselves the barbeque platter on offer looked like fantastic value. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this faultless guest house to any family or couple looking for a relaxing holiday or a base to explore the region.

Leading up to our stay at L’autre Vie, I had that pleasant feeling of anticipating something good. And it was so, very good. After discovering this self-categorized boutique hotel/B&B on Google, it was immediately included into our 4 week holiday. We chose the “Sydney room” and were not disappointed. I think it is their smallest room but still the biggest experienced in Europe!

L’autre Vie is relatively new, only in its first year of business. The hosts Vanessa and Justin are the most welcoming and friendly people, willing to offer advice and assistance whenever needed. They are ex-pat Australians who have worked the corporate life in several major cities who decided to give that all in for “l’autre vie” or “the other life” and start this wonderful business that has so clearly pleased many people who have stayed there.

They were on hand to offer tips on where to eat in the region (although a lot is to be said about their food – check out my blog for more http://indafood.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/bon-appetit), and what to see and do in the region to suit whatever you may desire.
I whole-heartedly recommend L’autre Vie. Just enjoy and embrace your time in this beautiful haven.

Of our two month trip around southern Europe this was our favourite place. We truly relaxed and indulged here for four nights. The wine, the wholesome cuisine, the Bordeaux sights, the vineyard experience, and not least the wonderful hosts made this place a B&B that we will never forget.

Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the Bordeaux experience.

Taste all of the wines on offer, try the do-it-yourself barbeque pack, and go for a long meander through the surrounding picturesque grape vines.

We stumbled across L'Autre Vie in our holiday search and couldn't have had more luck in our choice of destination. In keeping all the other reviews we can only re-iterate this is an idyllic boutique BnB with warm, welcoming and helpful hosts who really made our stay so special. There are endless opportunities for exploring and learning about the incredible local wines with St Emilion, Pomerol to Sauternes nearby, and this is the perfect spot to come back to at the end of the day. The option of a BBQ on the deck was a real bonus and we are still talking about the delicious breakfasts!

If you want to find the perfect place to get away and be right in the middle of Bordeaux's Wine Country, this is your place. Justin & Vanessa have an incredible location and treat you like family. Our only regret is that we did not spend a week there. We will be back though....

A lovely chambre d'hôtes not far from Bergerac with high spec rooms, spectacular views and great hosts. Cannot recommend a visit here enough - Try the BBQ packs they offer as they are wonderful!
