“Lovely!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

An oasis of calm, this house has been beautifully restored and stunningly furnished. I couldn't think of anywhere better to relax than by the beautiful pool in Siolim House's garden. We were made to feel so welcome by both staff and owner (and his delightful family) - I'd happily move in! Food's good too.

Siolim House is wonderfully restored and a pleasure to spend time in whether in the elegant rooms or the courtyard, garden and pool. The staff are attentive but relaxed. Very well placed for the beaches to the North

I stayed at Little Siolim with my family of six which included an infant. I found the place to be so quaint and lovely, with stunning rooms and even more stunning bathrooms... The place has a beautiful open courtyard and living area where we played board games that were in their library.

I found its location to be close enough to both Morjim and Baga Beaches. Dinaz who is the proprietor was always kind and so was the staff stationed at the house. I wish I could stay longer, and my only grouse with the place is that the pool is freezing cold! But after a while you get used to it :)

Room Tip: Little Siolim has 3 rooms and they are completely different from each other. So enquire with your fa...

Siolim House is tucked away down a little back street but once you're in it is just fantastic. Beautifully restored, this 350 year old ex Governors House is a joy to see. It's spacious and well looked after, the rooms are lovely and colonnial yet comfy and very well designed.

Probably the best thing is the staff, nothing is too much trouble for them - they will help you with trips, getting you scooters, sorting you out for meals or maps of places to go, they are a joy.

We had 5 wonderful days here and honestly didn't want to leave.

Room Tip: We had one of the rooms on the top floor near the entrance, I think these are bigger and for what wa...

We had a beautiful spacious room on the first floor. we liked the house a lot.

I think the bathroom wasn't that clean though. when we came there were couple of big dead insects on the ceiling glass of the shower.Towels were not changed every day.

we woke up nearly every night because we felt cold and there was no duvee or something thicker than a sheet in December.
The Staff was friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was ok. Would be better to put the toaster at the buffet to do it ourself as the toast came sometimes cold and too hard.
Dinner was also ok.

The garden and pool was really nice and the living room on first floor with tv,books and chess.

Its a nice Heritage Hotel but little things just ok.

Dear Guest
Thanks for your review - it is very helpful to me. I'd like to address your concerns also for the benefit of others reading this

Agreed we were late in putting the duvets out on the bed this year in December and it does get chilly at night sometimes. Apologies.. Had we realized we would have acted immediately - although there is a duvet in the cupboard always.

We generally do not change towels each day as an 'eco friendly' thing - maybe we did not advise you this beforehand, apologies again. However if you want a change - we are ever ready to do it.

Of the insects you speak about probably the Glass steam shower cube in the wooden bathroom - yes its entirely possible that insects may have fallen from the roof overnight and missed our eye - again apologies - I hope you understand that Siolim House is a very old house with the tiled roofs and so it happens once in a while, that insects fall down which is one of the difficulties in the upkeep and maintenance of such a place - but we are mostly diligent in keep the floors etc clean. The bathroom does not have a wooden false ceiling like the other bedrooms do. Therefore on top of the cube it may have been missed. Wont happen again - we'll make sure.

A toaster will be added to the breakfast table immediately.

Otherwise thanks for all your comments - and we of course will try to enhance the positive and remedy the inconveniences.

best regards

if you want to stay away from the chaos of the Northern Goa beaches this is an ideal place to start your reconaissance of the Goa area. Tranquil small place, good food, nice wines, large swimming pool, beautiful rooms, excellent service. Do not forget to rent a a scooter though, otherwiae you might find yourself a bit isolated. The hotel organizes this quickly, the area is beautiful and can easily be visited this way. Roads are relatively small and quiet.

My husband and I couldn't have been happier from stumbling onto the Siolim House.

Excellent service: everyone was friendly and beyond helpful. Answered all questions we had and made sure we were comfortable and waited upon when needed. We never felt like we were been taken advantage of (unlike other areas of India).

Excellent food: the food was wonderful! Appealing presentation, savory, and perfect proportions (they will adjust according to your appetite).

Friendly atmosphere: smiles all around. Friendly and welcoming without being overly invasive.

Desirable location: Away from the 'tourist' scene. However, the Siolim House is located close enough that you can visit various beaches and hotspots with no problems all in a days time. We were even able to rent a scooter from the Siolim House, minimizing our reliance on a taxi driver.

Activities provided: my husband and I decided to participate in the cooking class offered. It was well instructed and all in an afternoon. It gave us the opportunity to see the local market and taste local cuisine as well as get to know some of the locals. We even got the recipes to take home with us.

Overall we would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. It actually feels like more of a home than a house. When we return to Goa we will definitely be staying at the Siolim House again.
