“Really lovely place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

Myself, my husband and baby daughter spent a very enjoyable weekend in Siolim House. The rooms are gorgeous and very authentically restored. The suite we had was massive, as was the bathroom. The food was simple, wholesome and tasty, with enough options to choose from. The best thing about Siolim for us was the treatment we got from the staff, they were very friendly and helpful and it was like we stayed in a friend's house for the weekend. They were very considerate and accommodating, e.g. they cooked individual food for our baby, gave us lots of advice about things to do in the area and organised our transport for us which was always 100% reliable. If you go, make sure to do the cookery course which was fantastic.

Room Tip: Macao suite was amazing, huge!

“Home away from home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

We stayed in this beautiful paradise for only 3 nights and truly had a very good time. The rooms were cozy and comfy, staffs were very warm and friendly, made us feel so at home. tasteful decor and quiet for us to unwind and move at our own pace. Surely recommend this place to honey mooners, and those who want some quiet time out....and to party u can head to the beaches/night spots which are not far away....
People here are always accomodating and giving us answers and ideas to everything we wanted to do, being first timers in Goa....we are surely going back there again....this time with a bit more preparation and time i suppose.....

Room Tip: the Suite on the ground floor is where we stayed.

“Feeling at home.. with a twist!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

The place is enchanting, quiet, perfect to rest, especially with your family or with your boyfriend, if you are looking for a romantic stay.
The staff made the difference, being helpful, discreet, in a word: fantastic!
Alex, the general manager, was always helpful, gave us precious advices, and was super-friendly.
Peoplemake the difference, especially when it's monsoon season, and you can't properly enjoy the seaside or the swimming pool..
Breakfast was lovely, but the true nice experience was the dinner.. a gourmet one! Congrats to the chef!
You should go, there's so much more about Siolim House, which words could not express!

Room Tip: We had a superiore one, it was very big and comfortable, a little dark, though. We were shown all th...

“A Lovely Property !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

Stayed here for just one night to experience the Old world Charm while doing a cooking course conducted by the same people at their other property ( little Siolim) - my review on the cooking course is given seperately. The property is on a quiet road opposite the Siolim Church and we were the only guests. The poperty has been painstakingly restored and impressive for a 400 yr old building. My Room was huge and except for a TV, had all the other comforts - a huge 4 poster bed, tea and coffee making facility, a good a/c and the room overlooks a small courtyard. It also had the biggest bathroom I have ever been in ! I found the service though very slow and I guess thats becoz its off season and we were the only guests. The food cost is a bit pricey, but delicious with very limited choice. We wanted the prawn curry, the said they didnt have, we wanted the grilled fish, they said they didnt have, so we settled for the only thing they had - Chicken Xacuti and Rice with vegetables and though it was one portion, the two of us shared as my wife is a very small eater so the cost of Rs.350 for Rice, delicious boneless chicken and ample veggies was great value. What was unreasonable was the cost of alcohol - Rs.100 for a peg of Cashewfeni ( you get a bottle for the price) or Rs.200 for Honeybee brandy ( you get two bottles for that cost in a liquor store). In the evening we wanted to watch some news, so we went to the TV lounge upstairs which also has a library sadly the signal was so bad, we couldnt see anything and came down after having our dinner there. Breakfast the next day was good. Bread, butter, jam, tea, a place of fresh fruits, eggs of your choice and goan sausage chilly fry ! There is nothing around the hotel, but I guess if they had more food options, cheaper bar and if the Pool was used and if only there was TV in the room, it would have been a great place ! For those looking for quiet, good rooms, a heritage property, then this is an excellent place. I couldnt afford this during the season, but at its off season price, its excellent value to experience the Old Portuguese ambience.

I did a cooking class - 2 sessions, taught by their local chef Jane Fernandes in Goan Cooking and I must add it was excellent and I would strongly recommed it to anyone who loves good goan food. I will write a seperate review on this.

The only annoyance was the black dog there.... My wife is scared of dogs after being bitten once, and I found it nice and quiet during the day wagging its tail around us while we had lunch, but god know what happened to it after sundown, it used to just come charging at us which was pretty scary. Repeated requests to the staff to have it chained evoked no response. All they said was, it wont do anything just say blackie, blackie and it will be quiet..... but a dog suddenly charging at you in the dim light is no pleasant affair. Not everyone are dog lovers, and I feel the staff should take some care in keeping the dog in its area. On account of this, my wife stayed most of the time in the room to scared to come out as every time she peeped out of the room it barked at her !

Other than this, I must conclude, its a lovely Property and worth every penny!

Room Tip: Be careful of the dog, and carry or buy your own booze !
