Great place to relax, enjoy the beach, dive and look at the amazing sunset. Great staff, friendly and relaxed. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, small kitchen and large bathroom. Ice available just outside.
Restaurant is good, in the neighbourhood more nice places to dine. Make sure you have your own car!

Room Tip: Oceanfrontroom has a great terras and gordious sunsetview!,

This is the best place I have been to. You have everything all in one. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. They even called the airline for us before we left so we could see if the flight was on time. The grounds are very natural and you can spend many hours looking at the plants, birds and animal life. The food is really good but a little pricy. Very clean and housekeeping daily. The water is so clear and the beach is basically out your back door. The snorkeling is great. We brought our own and were out in the water for hours. The room was very clean. Big rooms and everything you would have at home. You will find yourself out in the middle of no were but yet still feel safe.

Room Tip: You have to rent a car to get to the hotel but it is really easy to do it. We rented it from the air...

My husband and I stayed for a week to celebrate our anniversary in June, 2014. The staff of the Kura Hulanda Lodge and beach resort was friendly and attentive. They went above and beyond to make our visit truly outstanding. We booked a garden view room but were upgraded upon arrival to an ocean-view villa. I would highly recommend the second-floor villa to anyone staying for the week.
Our ocean-view room was tastefully decorated and smartly appointed with an equipped mini-kitchen. The suite was spacious, cool, as clean as a beach front resort can get, (some sand always seems to hide in corners), the equipped kitchenette allowed my husband to flex his chef muscles with locally purchased fish and produce and we enjoyed many evenings on the balcony gazing at the stars.

The Lodge's open-air restaurant served meals from 7am through 10pm. The bar and grill on site also offered a satisfying selection of pub snacks and burgers. The bar staff is knowledgeable and able to whip up an array of satisfying adult beverages but you can drink what you like with no worries as the tap water is safe for all digestive systems and tastes delicious.

We spent hours strolling along the footpaths through desert foliage, gazing out over cliffs at the bobbing boats and exploring the cave at the north end of the property. The pristine aqua waters were ideal for snorkeling. We spent so much time exploring the reefs on property that we forgot to take advantage of the on-site pool.

The staff members at Go West Diving (also on-site at the lodge) were outstanding. It seemed like they were always on hand and eager to help with anything from car rental to identifying fish and suggesting snorkeling locations. I would highly recommend signing up for one of the snorkel boat tours to the 'blue room' and 'the black sand reef'.

I also recommend renting a car if you plan to venture off the resort more than three times during your stay. (The resort does offer complementary shuttles several times a week from Westpunt down to the sister Kura Hulanda property in the heart of downtown Willemstad.) We made stop at a super market just outside downtown for some lunch and snacking essentials. The supermarket offered a wide selection of typical western items as well as an abundance of local produce. Fresh tropical fruits, loaves of local baked pre-sliced bread and saran-wrapped portions of cheeses and meats made for convenient picnic lunches between visiting Shete Boka National Park, climbing Christoffel Mountain and lounging on the beach.

If you dine out in Westpunt, two of our favorite local restaurants were Sol Food (open only Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and Trio Pinotti. Another spot favored by locals and travelers alike is Jaanchie's - where we tried and loved the stewed iguana. Rancho El Sobrino is also a great family-friendly open-air restaurant/sports bar between the lodge and some popular coastal SCUBA dive sites.

Room Tip: The entire resort is very quiet but choosing a room away from the main lodge offers even more privac...

My husband and I have been to this resort 4-5 times, and we always enjoy it. We had the best service that we have ever had on this last trip in May/June 2014. Although the property had some issues, the new management company and staff are working hard to improve it. The food is very good at the restaurant, and while we left before it reopened, they have opened their beach barbeque again, which is great (it was always our favorite).

You get the best of all worlds - ocean, beach, pool, and you can also stay in the woods in the treetops, or take advantage of their new area - a 2nd pool with lovely island breezes. We spent time in all of these areas. While lots of people like ocean front, and it is lovely, our favorite is in the treetop woods, living outdoors - living room, dining room, kitchen; bedroom and bath are indoors in AC.

Maids and staff were very attentive and accommodating - better than we have ever experienced there.

The reason it is not a rating of 5 is that the rooms need to be cleaner around the edges. They know about this and perhaps have even corrected it by now.

It is a great spot for diving, snorkeling, and hiking - probably the best option in terms of amenities and location for those who love the outdoors.

Room Tip: If you want oceanfront with a view, choose the 2nd floor. If you want quiet, ask for it to be furth...

We really enjoyed our stay at Kura Hulanda. The staff was friendly and the location and property are gorgeous. We stayed in a suite on the second floor and it would definitely have the better view. If you stay in one of the suites farther away from the lobby you could probably have a great view of the sunsets from your balcony which are also gorgeous. The kitchenette was perfect for preparing simple breakfasts if we wanted and had a fridge for keeping food and drinks. The room was comfortable and clean.

Also take a walk along the paths by the ocean through all the foliage on the property, it is beautiful and there is an overlook part that gives a great view of the sunset and if you walk further there are steps to walk down the rocks and even a ladder to get in the water near the rocks in order snorkel, although if it is rough or you are a weak swimmer, going into the water there might not be as wise. It is just an all around a gorgeous property.

The beach was also very pretty. I do recommend water shoes as there were a lot of pieces of coral from the reef just off the shore and some thorns from some of the foliage that surrounds the beaches in much of Curacao. There were chairs and umbrellas and hammocks and we usually didn't have a problem finding one open. If the resort were full you would definitely have to get there early though. The grill near the beach was also open, but had the same food and menu as the other restaurant when we went and looked.

The biggest thing we thought was lacking was the food. The cost for the amount and quality of food we were given was pretty ridiculous (and we went in fully expecting to pay resort prices, been there done that). We stayed at another resort in Curacao after this one and not only was the food much better tasting, but the price was also much better for what you got. The menu is pretty limited and after one or two meals there we were hoping for something else to eat. Saturday night they grilled at the restaurant on the beach and that was the best meal we had there by far. We did notice that some of the other options for food outside the resort were open more on the weekends and a couple of the beaches nearby had bar and grills that served lunch type food for about 1/3 the cost for pretty much the same thing. If they got the food up to par it would be 5 stars for me. The cost would not have even been a big complaint had the portions been bigger or had the options for sides included something other than french fries or rice. Almost every meal consisted of meat and starch. Once or twice I think we got what was supposed to be salad, but was basically a piece of lettuce, a slice of onion, and maybe a couple cucumbers - much more similar in size and ingredients to the toppings for a hamburger than an actual salad.

If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay with some of the best beaches and sunsets on the island, this is the place to be. It is pretty secluded compared to some other places, so make stops for groceries and other things you might need closer to Willemstad. It was the perfect place for a quiet trip with just my husband. It was overall a very quiet and relaxing stay. I have to say while the staff were not big in numbers, they were generally very friendly and happy to get us anything we needed. We never had to sit around waiting for someone to acknowledge us, they were usually very prompt. We also learned while in Curacao, most places will not come and give you your bill until you have finished both your food and drinks so if you don't plan on finishing those last few sips you may have to ask for your bill!

Room Tip: Second floor suites have a better view. The suites farther from the lobby will probably be quieter...

If you truly want to get away from it all, stay at Kura Hulanda Lodge. We stayed in June during their low season. It felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves. We only saw a handful of guests during our stay. We stayed in the garden view suite rooms, which are up one flight of steep stairs, but away from the bugs. The balcony was so very secluded, no other rooms could even see your balcony, sweet. The bathroom needs counter space and more light, but other than that no more critique of the room. We didn't use the kitchen, so I can't comment on it. Iguanas and pretty birds everywhere in the trees.

We had breakfast included, and it was terrific every morning, much more than you standard hotel free breakfast. We didn't eat any other meal at the resort.

Both the staff and the facilities here were top notch, no complaints whatsoever.

I would highly recommend a stay here if you want to visit all of the beaches on the west side of the island and you want seclusion, if you like to party and want beaches with lots of activity, you would like another beachside property in Willemstad.

Room Tip: We heard from other guests that the ocean view rooms get hot during the afternoon, as they face the...

Just got back from the trip and wanted to share that this may be one of the most unique relaxing vacations that I have been on. If you like seclusion and quiet this is the place. It is very safe with security and gated. It is far from the action so please know going in that you are here to lay on the beach and snorkel. We stayed in one of the "treehouse" bungalows off the water and it was nice and clean. Food was fair but a little inconsistent.
