“AWESOME RESORT!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

We had a wonderful stay in October. Our guest suite was perfect and beautifully renovated with a million dollar view. What a great vacation experience with many fun site activities planned.
Everyone is very friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go back again.
A must place to stay!

We spent two weeks at OBR in November and had one of our most memorable vacations. We rented a car (almost essential) and stocked up on groceries en route at Grand Marche close to Phillipsburg. Using the direction of resort we drove there in the night without issues. Our first week was in a one bedroom overlooking the marina. Check in was easy, the unit was well furnished and we were near the beach access. There was some construction noise as they were building new slips for the marina. We attended the welcome party with cocktails and the farewell party with wine. We spent a few days on dawn beach and the rest of the week we toured the island (Mullett Bay, Baie Rouge and Pinel Island). Mr. Busbys beach bar does a very nice evening meal (US prices). The second week we gave up our two bedroom as our friends could not make it and got upgraded to a 3rd floor one bedroom in the Penthouse building overlooking the ocean. This was a beautiful unit with a large balcony. The staff at the resort were very helpful and friendly. The second week we ate lunch in a Lolo in Grand Case, explored the market in Marigot and went back to Pinel Island. Snorkeling was great here on our first visit but cloudy the second time. Use dollars rather than euros on the French side as they accept them 1 to 1. The Simply Mart near Grand Case is nearer than Grand Marche, but more expensive and no fresh milk. Be careful of the timeshare salesmen. There were lots trying to get you to the Westin nearby and even OBR tries to get a sale. Do you homework if you attend - prices in the Caribbean are pricy. I am so glad we were not near the crowed streets and beaches close to the airport.

Room Tip: Buildings 36-38 overlook the marina and are quiet (when construction finishes). Penthouse (12) is a...

We have been to St, Maarten many times to many resorts. Oster Bay has a very friendly staff and the best activity desk on the island. Bus trips and Lots of things to do. 2 pretty good restaurants on site and 3 next door. It has a super infinity pool and a large adjacent beach. Many large sail and power boats use Oyster Pond behind the resort. It's our favorite resort to go to on the island.

My family and babysitter just returned from a week long stay. We were literally right on top of the ocean. Unfortunately It was not an updated room (as I have read in other reviews), but the proximity to the ocean still made the stay wonderful. Our 2 bedroom 2 bath room was equipped with a full kitchen, which was essential for out travels with our 2 little ones and babysitter. Yes there was a strong sewage smell, in an area of the resort, but it is not near the pool or beach of any place where you would commune. Our room was dated, but it was very clean. Towels were clean and new. The whole beach towel exchange systems needs work. You get 2 towels per person, but you have to keep track of your towel and return them to your room for exchange for new towels for the next day. The idea is that you always have one clean towel per person as you wait for the one dirty one to be exchanged the next day. Ridiculous system. First of all, you need a new towel when you leave the beach and decide to visit the pool. Now you have used both towels (and you are carrying your dirty sandy wet beach towel everywhere because it has to go back to your room for exchange). The front desk will have a couple on hand for you, but tell you the exchange must take place back in your room. I have never experienced this towel system before. You bring your key to prove you are staying at the resort, and then you go to a towel stand where you should be able to exchange all day. Why am i stressing about keeping track of dirty unusable towels all day? Okay, I know I'm rambling on about this. I just hope the resort will consider a change in this system. OTHERWISE, we had a delightful vacation. Beach access was awesome--its right there--a quick walk. I agree with other reviews that you need a rental car. the eating options are not the best. The only restaurant we loved was Canoa. The others are not good. Infinity is good, but expensive for what you are getting. Canoa is similiarly priced, but worth it. I highly recommend this resort for families. The infinity pool is absolutely gorgeous, and the whole resort is very pretty perched right on top of the ocean. I already miss the sound of the ocean in that suite. It lulled me to sleep everynight. It was truly a relaxing stay and we would definitely return. All staff are VERY friendly, and made us feel very welcome. My only complaint about the towel system is very small compared to all else. I just had to explain it in hopes they'll reconsider their system.

Room Tip: We didn't end up in a renovated room, but we were right on the ocean which was AWESOME. If you...

Just spent our third week this year at Oyster Bay Beach Resort, what a great resort! The upgrades just keep happening throughout the resort. We will be back there in four months to enjoy another 3 weeks. Lots to do if you take advantage of it. Be sure you go to the Orientation to find out what is going on around the resort. I cannot say enough about the staff, they are the best. Tell Brenda at the Check-in Desk we said HI when you get there.

Just back from another great stay at Oyster Bay beach resort in St Maarten. We just love our visit here, we come 2 - 3 times a year. Management team here always looking to make this resort better. Staff always very friendly and willing to do anything for you to make your visit a great one. Food, bar and pool service always excellent. Local restaurants always good. Most rooms renovated at this point and the grounds and view of Oyster Pond are unreal.

Room Tip: Always rent a car, it will be needed to venture out
