“Great view, but average food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

We went to Le Planteur because it had an amazing view. We saw the prices were a little higher, but assumed that was because the food was good. After reading reviews people seemed to like the place. The food was mediocre at best and completely over priced. We had salads and entrees and our meal took two hours. For 5 people it ended up costing $260 for food that should've cost maybe $12-$15 plate.

“A gem in little Oyster Pond”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Outstanding. This is a gem the place has been here forever, and the owner still greets you with enthusiasm. The hill top view is worth the hike up the road. The food is honest rural French cooking, with fresh local ingredients. Of the four French restaurants we tried on this trip -- this was the best priced, so for the market, this is fair. The Steak with peppercorn sauce was as good as I have eaten anywhere. We came back 3 times to eat here. Oddly each time the side bread was slightly burnt, and because they are out of the way they can run out of an item or two but there is always a good substitute. Recommended.

“Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Dinner was good, portions more than sufficient. Dessert was burnt and the whipped cream was bad in both the dessert and the coffee drinks.

“Great view but..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

After diing in Grand Case several times, Le Planteur was a disappointment. It has a great view over Oyster Bay and a beautiful breeze but the fresh fish, and lamb were over cooked. The escargot was not close to the preparation of Le Cottage. For us it was a nice experience but not the culinary experience you can get for the same money at other locations.
