We actually traveled here in May 2009 but wasn't on Trip Advisor and I wanted to make sure to voice what a wonderful experience we had.
Owned by Mireille and her husband, La Caravelle is a small villa right on the marina at Oyster Pond. They were so friendly and nice even though we showed up and realized they only spoke French...we, only English and Spanish! Still very courteous and we made it through the language barrier. :)
The grounds are lovely and the rooms are very nice. They have AC, kitchen with plates/silverware, and a mini fridge which came in handy since we would go down the hill to the little grocery store(s) and stock up on baguettes and cheese. The pool was really nice and open all the time which ended up being our routine stop when we'd get back at night.
We rented a car (Which is a must to enjoy the whole island) and were told to be careful not to leave anything valuable inside. We did most everything during the day and tried being safe so luckily we didn't have any bad experiences.
Sleep Quality is only a 4 because there are a lot of places that party around there so you can hear them all night... and probably across the island. :) They do not clean the rooms everyday which is fine and more "eco friendly" anyways.
Make sure to find "The Dingy Dock" which is sort of hidden down at the marina behind the larger tourist-y restaurant. GREAT food and awesome bartenders.
The price to stay here was excellent since we went during "off-season". I would recommend it to people who are there to explore the island. This was the perfect place for the type of vacation we wanted; adventurous and fun! If you want luxury and a spa-like Caribbean vacation you should probably find something else.
Thank you Mireille!!!
