“very relaxing stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

This resort has something for everyone. we stayed week of June 7-14 for our honeymoon and it was the perfect spot for us. staff is friendly, good food, great infinity pool and something for everyone whether its couple or families. Robbie is a great bartender and took care of us all week. the housekeeping was outstanding, very clean unit and did a great job all week. lots of little services that may go unnoticed, like towels for the pool, etc, but the staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. highlight of the week was Capt Herman cooking us an UNBELIEVABLY GOOD meal in our room after fishing with him during the day. super cool guy who made our last night on the island a really fun experience. only reason not 5 stars is the shore isn't the best for "swimming" in the sea. good for snorkeling, not so much for swimming. it's pretty rocky and a lot of seaweed near the shoreline and construction was going on to build a new building. it didn't really interfere with anything we did at the resort, just had to walk around sites that were work areas. the best thing is you are close enough to other things like Rum Point and Kaibo, restaurants like Tukka and Capt Herman's fish fry, that you can really relax and feel like you are secluded but also have a good variety to things to do on vacation. you definitely will need a car to stay here, it's about a 45 min drive from the airport, pretty much two lane road from Bodden to east end up to Rum Point. but don't let that be a deterrent, you have the freedom to explore and see all the island has to offer. there is also a grocery store very close, closed on Sunday I think. but very convenient to pick up a few things you need as you go thru the week, whether it lunch items, water camera, snacks, etc. a little pricy at the store, but still a good convenience. we would definitely go back to this resort again! Thanks Capt Herman, the meal was amazing!!!!!!!

We just ended a week stay at Morritt's and had a marvelous time! The staff were friendly and very helpful at check in, moving us to another unit when a problem was found in ours, prior to us moving in. The two bedroom, two bath unit we had was on the first floor and opened onto the beach, with an amazing view. The Grand Pool, an infinity pool, is not to be missed, with a swim up pool bar. There activities, if you wish to participate, and you are assigned a concierge to help, with plans or directions.

The East End is much lower key than the West, and we much preferred the laid back atmosphere.

The units are well equipped and housekeeping came every day with fresh towels and to clean. Morritt's is in the process of refurbishing units, and building another section, but this did not bother us in the least, no noise or distractions.

Be advised that The Cayman Islands are more expensive than other Caribbean islands, but a fun time was had by all!

Room Tip: Some prefer second floor or higher, but we loved the first floor, leading to the beach.

My wife and I came to Morritt's for our honeymoon. We fell in love with the property, staff and area instantly. Within two days of our 7 day stay, we bought a time share. The food is great, staff and service perfect, and the overall experience was even greater that our expectations after extensively researching this choice ahead of time. Rent a car, no way around it. Expect to pay a lot for food and drinks (It's a Cayman thing all around). Enjoy yourself and worry about paying for it later! It has been a trip of a lifetime. Swimming with he Dolphins and Pampered Pony ride are an absolute must. These can be done on a day trip to the west end.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Morritt's Tortuga Club. Our room was quite nice, roomy, up to date and had everything that we could want in a place to stay. The only comment I have is that I cannot figure out why they put in bathroom vanities that are more appropriate for a child than an adult. Minor point, but I am over 6 feet, so a sink at mid thigh height is a challenge.

On with the resort. The food at the club is quite good. Prices are decent, about what you can expect for resort fare. However, they were drastically understaffed, all the time. Breakfast can take almost an hour, which is excessive. That being said, the food was good.

The beaches are beautify, with great sunrise and sunset views. There is some snorkeling directly from the beach, but it is a bit limited since you cannot get to any of the reefs.

By all means, RENT A CAR, at the airport if possible. There is only one other restaurant that is within foot distance. If you want to go anywhere, the cost of buses and cabs is prohibitive. Cheaper to rent a car and go it yourself. The island is small so it is not an issue. Be careful, it is English side drive with a mixed bag of cars for rent.

The resort personnel are very nice and helpful and will do lots to make your stay pleasant.

In all, we would stay here again and we recommend it to others.

Room Tip: We were in one of the old buildings, but the rooms are exquisite. The best views are from the buildi...

We were 4 couples with 3 making this trip to Grand Cayman for the first time and 2 individuals having birthdays during our stay. We were pleasantly surprised at the relative ease by which we checked in and the wide variety of activities scheduled for the week. Weather was fantastic and this could make a huge difference in one's enjoyment. The infinity pool was gorgeous, Red Sails store on site was very well managed by a knowledgeable and extremely helpful staff. Food was reasonable and housekeeping staff was very responsive to our needs. Our two 2BR units was adequately stocked with sufficient utensils and working equipment. Although we did not face the ocean we were far away from the construction area that it did not bother us. We visited 7-mile beach and took the stingray tour from Rum Point. We really enjoyed the beach at Rum Point with all necessary facilities close at hand. This was a short 20 min drive from Morritt's. Grocery store was within walking distance. Snorkelling within a few feet from shore was a great plus. Although we had our AC turned on throughout our stay our final bill with taxes and internet access was about $200 for the week. We really liked the isolation, peace and quiet at this end of the island. We an hardly wait to return.

Room Tip: We stayed in the "Wantage" 5129 which we thought was great - on the ground floor and close...

This location is a gem on the island, located approx 22 miles from Georgetown away from all the city noise. A car is a must in order to get around & the view around the coastal road is one you never tire of. The electric bill at the end was higher than I expected because there was only 2 of us in the room & all we did was sleep & shower , no cooking. Bill was 142.00 for the week. This is our 2 trip here & I am sure we will return for our 35th anniversary.

Room Tip: Water front room is the way to go if you can get it, book early

Went to Morrotts 5/4 thru 5/11. We stayed in Rm 6303 in the Grand Bldg. Beach front is a must here - makes all the diff in the world. We had perfect weather all week - snorkeled alot, and did alot of nothing - which is just what we have in mind when we go on vacation. If you want a night life - stay on the west side of the island. Husband and I were celebrating our 35th anniversary and Morritts gave us a nice card and bottle of champange. I took lots of food in a cold bag with frozen water bottles, in my checked luggage and it is not a problem thru customs as long as everything is NOT opened and in the original package from the grocery store - including bacon, chicken, steak, hamburger (all frozen) - so we bought very little groceries once we got there. Be prepared for big bucks at the grocery store if you plan to buy when you get there. $8.50 for a bag of salad? $9.50 for a lb of bacon? The island is very safe - no fear of leaving the resort to drive/walk anywhere! Try that in Jamaica or Mexico! Everyone we came in contact with, that worked at the resort was so friendly and pleasant. NO calls from the timeshare people - we had to call them for an apptmt. We wanted to see the new rooms - and they are AWESOME. Our electric bill was not bad for the week ($83.00 US) for 2 bdrm deluxe room. Sting ray city is a must see. We ate at David's twice and it was just ok. Expensive, and the service was so-so. But here in Ohio, we can never get "all you can eat Lobster" so we had to splurge for that while there (62.00 US per person). This was our 2nd trip to GCI and we hope to return in the Fall. Last time we stayed at the Reef - we both preferred Morritts over The Reef. Oh, and not to be forgotten - STINKY THE DOLPHIN. He was a great source of entertainment for the guests and hung out in the waters at Morritt's everyday. Have Fun - you're gonna love it!!

Room Tip: Room with balcony is a must.
