We stayed at the Reef in March and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful. The room was excellent although I recommend you avoid Room 101 unless you enjoy loud music. While we enjoyed having easy access to the beach and the dock, we were right next to the Barefoot Man and other performances at the beach front bar. If you want to listen to the performance, than it's a perfect room. If you want peace and quiet, not so good. Unfortunately they couldn't move us. Fortunately, there were only 3 performances! However, the room was perfect in many other ways. All the rooms face the ocean which is wonderful. This room was close to the dock which we enjoyed walking on. It was also great to just walk out our room and be right on the beach. I've heard some recommendations for a 2nd or 3rd floor room, but we really enjoyed being able to walk out the door and be on the beach. The location is very convenient to Rum Point, Starfish beach and others. We loved being away from the hustle and bustle of SMB. We did drive down to SMB and did some shopping in George Town. It was insanely busy! We actually found some of the best souvenirs on the East End in a little shop near Tukka's.
White Sand Water sports is right at the resort and we did the sunrise stingray tour. I highly recommend it! It's beautiful to be on the water that early in the morning and there aren't any crowds! The food at the resort was good and it was nice to eat right on the beach. We found most of the interesting critters we saw by snorkeling right off the beach. It wasn't crowded and being able to see lobster, stingrays, tarpon and lots more without having to go anywhere was fabulous! I do recommend renting a car, it gives you some independence and there are other places to see on the island.
