The V&A Waterfront is full of tourist but it is also a really nice. There are loads of restaurants here, many shops and stalls and it is also from here the boat to Robben Island sails from and one of the stops of the Hop on, hop off bus. The Red Shed Craft Market have the more expensive art and craft, while if you are into traditional curios you should visit the Blue Shed Craft Market. Actually the curios here are among the best in South Africa. I didn't know that at the time, but after 3 weeks in SA I can definately say so. The Blue Shed Craft Market also houses alternative treatments etc, so if you want a massage or a tarot card reading this is the place. The Waterfront is also heavy with security, so feeling very safe, though you should still be cautious not ending up at the far edges (like the aquarium) alone after darkness.
