“Not quite what we expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

We went there for dinner. Felt the service could have been much better. When we got there, M. Bocuse came out for a photo op.
Nobody asked if we would like an aperitif- they just came with the food menu. When we complained, the sommelier took our order for 2 glasses of champagne, and after he had served us , told us it was on the house.
The menu felt dated, and the service was not as welcoming or attentive as we have found at other well restaurants , such as La M`ere Brazier, also in Lyons, which is rated 2 stars by Michelin compared to Paul Bocuse's 3. Got the feeling that they were resting a bit on their laurels. Perhaps the fact it was a sunday night in July was responsible.Maybe we went in with overly high expectations. Would wait before giving it a second chance

“still a strong three star”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

I returned to Bocuse with some trepidation because of some of the negative reviews, and the scuttlebutt in a blog that it is "untouchable" by Michelin and really is not a three star restaurant anymore. Well folks, it is still a three star, one of the best. My reference point is hundreds of meals at dozens of Michigan three star restaurants over the past five decades. Everything is superb: the food, the wine, the service, the courtesy, etc. etc. Go there, pay the price, and enjoy yourself. If you want to know another restaurant that I adore, it is Azurmendi near Bilbao.

“An Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

This was one of those unique dining experiences that we thoroughly enjoyed and will remember. The food was very classical not innovative but well executed with attention to detail. The biggest part of the experience is the service, it was very grand and attentive. Make sure to save room for the cheese and dessert courses; which was my favorite part of the meal. Both courses you can pick as many as you want..which delighted and overwhelmed me. I really wish I had room to try more than two desserts. They did wrap up our tray of petit fours and chocolates for me to take with me. They also gave me a menu. This is something we will remember for a long time.

A very special evening to b remember, but very pricy once in a life time experience
Decor service was to his reputation chic elegant comfortable
Plaisir to meet Mr Paul Bocuse a touching moment
But we came here for the food! It was not divine!
Specially the famous blue feet chicken very deceiving not pleasant to eat or to look @ honestly. The very pleasant staff help digesting the bill but not the food!!

“Something to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

The whole point of our visit to Paul Bocuse was to have an excessive gourmet experience, and we got what we came for! From the minute you arrive at Bocuse, you feel that you are beeing given a special treat. The doorman in his red costume, the extremely attentive waiters, the pleasant sommelier giving expert advice on wines suitable for any budget, the building and it's ambience etc., it all tells you that you are in for something out of the ordinary. Everything is on the verge of beeing over the top, but share elegance and excellence prevents it from beeing too much.

Even though we knew that Bocuse himself from time to time turns up in the restaurant to great his guest, we still were a bit "starstruck" when the old 3-star guy suddenly stood at our table greeting us. Good fun - added value!

We decided on the classic menu and really enjoyed every dish, and the Bresse chicken - just wonderful. The desserts were out of this world, both in magnitude and quality.

All in all, very expensive, but if you are looking for something special - this is as special as it gets! We enjoyed every minute of it and will remember this meal and the whole experience for long time.
