“Rude manager”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

First I have to say this hotel is lovely, stayed here 2 nights on a livinging social voucher, which I now know when you buy discounted vouchers for this hotel you are treated differently from other guests, while sitting at dinner(I may add it was not the main restaurant it was a function room for the voucher guests) we brought a glass of pocesso from our room, half way throughout the dinner the manager came over in a destressed state and shouted "that he would ask us to leave if we use our own wine" he would not let us explain why we had our own because his bar had ran out of it
I agree that you can not bring your own wine into a bar, but this was a function room with no bar and also while we sat in the lobby,
I think this manager needs learn some manners, as he was soooo angry, that must be the only way he is able to get his point across

Room Tip: Stay away from the rude manager

We have just returned from a two night stay at this hotel set in spectacular countryside. The room we had was excellent. Our stay would have been perfect had it not been for the meal we had in the restaurant. The service was awful and the food was on a par. I cannot recall the last time I have eaten out and felt so let down.

Stayed here as part of a living social deal, which included dinner and 2 glasses of wine. The room was gorgeous, with a spectacular view over the lake, lying in bed with the curtains open watching the rain pelt down, was priceless. Very well appointed room, well finished and very very clean. We ate in the bar both nights and the young guy running it was just great. The pool/spa was something else again, hydro pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, very relaxing and an area were kids weren't allowed - bonus. Breakfast was grand, although no muesli either morning but we managed ok. We would definitely go back, staff were lovely, very friendly. Gorgeous hotel. Recommended.

Had my wedding reception here in November 2013 and had the best day ever. The staff here couldn't do enough to help and went over and above what we paid for! The hotel itself is lovely and clean and very comfortable and the honeymoon suite was beautiful!
Thanks to Ann and Lewis for all your support.

my other half and I were gifted a 2 night stay here as an early Christmas present and how amazing this place was! The staff were courteous, friendly and extremely helpful and knowledgeable of local area, the view from our room was AMAZING and the food was delicious! The breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty and the dinner was out of this world! I had the lamb and it was soft and tender and well seasoned as was the gravy and the sides. The bar was relaxed and the swimming pool and hydropool were relaxing and a great bonus to the stay. We visited in winter so after long walk i the cold countryside the hydropool and Jacuzzi were perfect!
Our room was clean and spacious and had the little extra things we needed and the temperature was perfect coming in from the cold.
You need a car to access it but its well worth it, secluded enough but within a short drive to local amenities in Bunbeg this place is well and truly worth a visit. It was the perfect little getaway :)

Room Tip: Try for a front facing room for views of Errigal from your window.

We love Donegal and came on up to watch some of the Trad music performances during the last Frankie Kennedy School. But the hotel had up to three sessions going at a time in the pub or great room. One had 10 fiddles along with everything else!

Kids playing, movie stars and ex cabinet ministers in attendance all while being pretty low key. Oh, and did we mention it was the best traditional Irish music we have ever seen.

The hotel was clean, just fixed up. Pub food was just OK, we got to breakfast late so it was mostly gone but that was our fault. A beautiful lake just out the front door and our window.

We also toured the coast and the base of Errigal a bit but it was pretty boggy and wet this time of year.

The music school/performances will go on next year but under a different name. This is the place to be!

We stayed here over half term in October or three nights with our three children aged 9,9 and 8.
Overall we had a good experience, the family room was excellent, a huge room and three double beds. Unfortunately the pool was very busy, especially on the first day, no towels available although the staff were helpful and they located some eventually. children are only allowed in half the pool and half of that was closed off for swimming classes so it meant everyone was jammed in one tiny area. The situation improved the next few days as the lessons had stopped.
Our dinner was very good and the children were also well catered for.
Breakfast again was very busy and they ran out of croissants and muesli etc very early on, I don't think the hotel was prepared for the numbers and probably will be more organised next holiday time.
Overall we had a Good stay and the weather was good, it was certainly very good value.
THere was a kids club but my children weren't keen to go unfortunately.
