This pub didn't quite live up to our expectations. We were on a boating weekend so were looking for accessible pubs from the Thames and this one came up - it's website referred to the "deck overlooking the Thames River" which didn't quite tie up with where it was marked on maps, but Eynsham itself is a further walk away so this looked the best bet. It's actually a 5 min walk away from the river (over a field's distance away), and it just has a dribble of a rather unexciting stream next to it, which connects to the Thames, and a factory out the back and main-ish road out front.
However we were there for quite a late dinner and were happy to eat inside. Food was fairly traditional pub grub style - we had a decent lamb shank with veg, and a plate of chilli beef nachos - tasty if a bit dry. Service was friendly. Nothing inspirational to write home about in terms of location or menu, but a decent stop off for good food.

Booked through laterooms as we were at an event in Blenheim Palace. Friendly welcome although they couldn't find our booking at first! Our room was very clean and felt new. We stayed in what was more of an annexe building than in the pub, but a beautiful stone building and well furnished. Only downside is that the rooms overlook the very small car park. We had lunch which was plentiful (although I did ask that next time some one orders a Caesar salad, it may be a good idea not to serve it on a warm plate!). We came back from Blenheim Palace and had a few drinks at the bar. The owner was a lovely man and very helpful in giving us taxi information. Breakfast was nice aand served by a lovely happy lady and it seemed very busy. From the outside the pub looks tired but the accommodation is nice.

WE stopped our boat on the Thames at Eynsham and decided to eat at The Talbot on the toll bridge. The team are very kind and polite. We took the Chihuahua and he was more than welcome. We had a simple supper of lasagne and fish and chips. Both were good. The beer was good and lots of variety.

Just stayed for two nights and were greeted by a very friendly young lady who couldn't do enough for us,good start! She showed my wife to one of the new rooms which was next to a screened factory site, which

I thought might be noisy but no problems,I had to stay and look after a very good cask beer!. Food was very generous and well made, but the staff were all superb. Very good transport links to Oxford and very regular. Thanks Talbot for a great stay!

Enjoyed a very pleasant break at this old inn by the Thames, close to Oxford.
A charming and friendly "mine-host", comfortable rooms, the unhurried ambience of a village pub and good, hearty fare at reasonable prices.
The Talbot is on a fairly busy main road into Oxford with a bus stop only 50 yards down the road which is much the best way to visit the old university town avoiding parking problems.
This is a very friendly inn which all members of our party would thoroughly recommend.

Booked based on Pub website and reviews on here. First impressions from outside a bit disappointing as looked much nicer on website. Check in was Ok, could have been a bit friendlier but room were very nice which was the main thing. Thought being right by a busy room it might be noisy but it was fine and I am a light sleeper. We had booked a table for the evening but when we had a quick look at the menu there wasn't much on there that looked exciting and limited for vegetarians. It was a shame as we had been spolit after having a lovely lunch at the Angel in Burford. Decided to have a quick walk to Enysham to see if there was anywhere nicer but Ensham was horrible. There was one pub (Queen's Head in the Good beer guide) and that was very friendly and nice but doesn't open until 6pm. The food at Talbot was average with over cooked veg on a meal on the specials board and soggy pastry in the Apple pie, but the service was good and friendlier than earlier. They had a live band on which to be honest weren't bad but couldn't be classed as great either. breakfast was pretty much the same, average. However, compared with the ridiculous prices of hotels & B&Bs in the surrounding areas, this was not a bad place to stay and I would consider staying again as the rooms were OK. We did a lovely couple of walks around Burford & Minster Lovell and called in at Whitney on the way home.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the back if you want a quiter room
