“Two day stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

We stayed for two nights in late February a delightful quaint old English pub/hotel with history, the food was very good as pub meals go, unfortunately only two real ales on the pump, so not much choice for real beers. The bar area could really do with some seating designated for guests who were drinking/conversing. A lovely open log fire and a warm open friendly atmosphere.Room was clean and tidy with all usual facilities.Staff at times were a little rushed but very friendly and cordial under the circumstances so well done to them!.Recommended***

Room Tip: At the rear of the Pub.

We stayed here for two nights in February. The hotel is very old and full of character and the rooms are warm and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant both nights where the food and service were very good and really good value for money. The staff are delightful and very helpful especially Derek and Claudia. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed at the red Lion for a weekend break and found it to be a very welcoming and friendly place....nothing was too much trouble for the staff especially Derek & Lucy. The room was quaint clean and cosy. the food was ok...pub grub but that was reflected in the price & the 2 for £9 menu excellent value for money.

Just returned from a two day break and what can I say but well done Red Lion staff for keeping an excellent run hotel. We were made to feel welcome the moment we walked in. Arrived in a snow storm but walked in to a lovely warm environment. Nothing is to much trouble really friendly. Room lovely very quaint old furniture but keeping in with the hotel. Beds comfortable and spotless linen. Good shower with decent sized bath towels. Food excellent and plenty of it. Had the Valentine menu superb !!! Thankyou Derek, Julie, Karin and Natalie for a lovely stay and we will certainly be visiting again.

Decided to take a much needed mini-break and ended up in Adderbury. The Red Lion turned out to be just the thing! 16th Century quirkiness, roaring log fire with snow falling outside making it a quintessential English winter's day/evening experience. The food was excellent and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Both room and bed extremely comfortable and a sensational breakfast to top off a superb mini-break! Will definitely return again soon.

Room Tip: The rooms on the front of the pub are double glazed, so just a light hum of passing traffic in the m...

After leaving the 5 Star Jumeirah Hotel in London on Thurs 17th Jan, I headed to Adderbury for a small family reunion and a business meeting. I had been with Andy Townsend and others in London on business and what a beautiful Hotel the Jumeirah is, with very professional staff. I had booked the Red Lion on a recommendation from a family member. After two nights, numerous drinks, several meals and a sore head on Saturday morning I hit the road again to travel home to Belfast. As a person thats travels extensively, I believe I'm well qualified to comment on the Red Lion. In a word.....fantastic!!! The landlord Derek, I give 10 out of 10. I simply have never met a more friendly, caring, people person. I was greeted with a smile and left with the same. This guy is a professional and his attention to detail is unreal. The room was big, spotless with a 4 poster bed, tastefully decorated to match the building. The rest of the staff including the chefs and barmaid Natalie also made me feel very welcome. Its every Irishmans dream to be snowed in, in a Pub and that was the case on Friday. My business meeting cancelled so a pint of Speckled Hen started the day off well. What can I say....thank you so much Derek....my extended family had a great time as some old friends( local people) that hadnt been in the "Red" for years, they joined us and they too commented on the atmosphere and great service. I will return and am looking for any excuse, any at all????
