“Sitting Gently by the River, in the Jungle!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2011

My girlfriend and I stayed at their Mango House, right by the river and surrounded by beautiful trees. One morning a group of monkeys playing nearby woke us up, but it was ok!! There is plenty to do around the grounds, and a trip to the lake was our favorite part! Khao Sok is beautiful, definitely a must-see while in Thailand! The delicious food that comes out of Our Jungle House's Kitchen is enough to keep you around longer!

Stayed with two friends during a recent trip round Thailand and 'Our Jungle House' was by far and away my favourite accomodation and location of the trip.

Our treehouse was amazing. We had a large double bed and some bunkbeds, which was more than enough room for three female travellers. It had a lovely balcony which had stunning views of the river and cliffs. At night you feel like you are right in the thick of it, as you can hear all the amazing sounds of the national park.

Bodie and the staff were lovely, and always there for advice or just a nice chat over breakfast. They can also organise activities for the daytime, such as a jungle trek, elephant treks and tubing (the later two we tried and would highly recommend).

Only criticism would be that there were a few holes in the mosquito nets and that our room was not cleaned throughout our two night stay. However, it is worth noting that this is an eco lodge in the middle of a national park, so perhaps not cleaning the room is deliberate (also to be fair to them, it really didn't need cleaning either).

I would absolutely recommend 'Our jungle treehouse' for couples, travellers, or anybody who wants to stay somewhere that is a little more unique. It was certainly a refreshing change from Khao San Road in Bangkok!!!!

My husband and I recently stayed in the Romance treehouse for 1 night and had an awesome experience, I only wish we could have stayed for more than 1 day. Bodie and the staff were great and experts at answering our questions and giving advice on what to do in the area. the food in the restaurant was very reasonably priced and very tasty as well. It was great to sit out on the balcony of the treehouse and watch the monkeys play in the trees and just soak up the scenery. Highly recommended!

We stopped for one night and decided to stay two nights because it is just such a friendly and beautiful resort. The resort is based under the lime sotone clifts and along a crystal clear river. The room are basic but have some fantastic features which makes them feel like a home away from home. Its really peaceful and quiet and the surrounding jungle is full of monkeys ... great for the kids (ha and me) I loved it there..........we will be back in about three months time without a doubt!!! Also has a really good thai cook .... the thai lady with me loved the food

Room Tip: ask for the tree top houses .... especially the 'romantic room

We stayed at Our Jungle House two nights in one of the two bedroom bungalows. The accommodations are spartan but pleasant, situated in a sparsely developed jungle setting. Khun Bodie, the manager, and his staff, were very friendly and helpful. They can assist with securing guides for hikes in the park, boat tours on Cheow Lan Lake, transportation to airports, etc.

The bungalow we stayed in was raised about 8 feet off the ground. It had one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, the second bedroom had two twins, all with very, very firm mattresses. All had mosquito nets but they proved unnecessary during our visit. Each bedroom also had a wall mounted fan which kept the nighttime temperatures quite pleasant. The bathroom had a shower, toilet, and two sinks but no hot water. The shower is not enclosed so the floor tended to stay wet. Shower shoes would have been welcome. The house had a large, covered porch overlooking the Sok River. In the mornings and evenings, we saw many macaques in the trees lining the river. The first morning, they jumped from the trees to the roof of our bungalow and proceeded to make quite a racket before running off into the jungle.

The reception building has a small restaurant and, on the second floor, an open air bar that is open in the evenings. The breakfast menu is adequate and the dinner menu has a good variety. Vegetarian requests are easily accommodated.

The location is a 15 minute walk from the park entrance and about a 45 minute drive to the boat launch by the dam. The karst topography at Cheow Lan Lake is truly spectacular. Our full day lake tour, arranged by the Jungle House staff, was the highlight of our trip. It was well run and included lunch, swimming, and a jungle hike to a small but interesting cave. Despite being the middle of the rainy season, we were fortunate, being subjected to one, brief shower each day.

If you are looking for luxury, you won't find it here but if you are looking for peace and quiet in the jungle with beautiful scenery you should be quite satisfied.

TIPS: don't visit the park between June and December, 90% of the national park is closed due to heavy rain (even if the weather is fine)

We had a great stay in the forest tree house and got a genuin djungle feeling when Monkeys jumped between the treetops just outside our balcony.

If you go here you can't be scared of the animals. We spent 2 nights in the treehouse and had lots of guests. Huge spiders and bats for instance. (photos)

The staff was friendly and helpful. The food prices was afordable. The surroundings was beautiful.
don't miss the river tubing (350 Baht), it was amazing! The night safari was nice too.

If you go here you must be prepared for what the jungle offers. Even if some things might scare you it's a part of the experience and I highly recommened that you stay for at least 3 days in Khao Sok!

One more thing, be sure to tuck your pants in your socks before trekking. The trails are crowded with leeches.
