“Surprised we didn't get food poisoning!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

We have been to The Bridge Inn many, many times. Each time it has been OK. Nothing above average and, to be honest, we only go because the kids like to use the play area.
I can definitely say that this will be our last time of ever eating there, and if you are reading this and thinking of going, all I can say it DON'T!
As it was the Easter weekend, it was pretty packed, so we chose the only table available in the children's area, away from the bar which appeared to be full of people getting drunk. Firstly, the table was absolutely filthy. The plates had all been cleared away, but there was food and drink spilled everywhere, including squashed food on the carpet beneath us. We asked someone to come and clean it up, which she did. Not sure what they use to clean the tables but we literally couldn't breathe due to the fumes!!
Anyway, we ordered food (didn't have what we wanted so had to chose something else) and was told there was a "30 minute delay". This was fine with us, and to be expected, so we sat back at our table and let the children play.
50 minutes later, still no sign of our food arriving. We heard others complaining about the length of wait time also.
We asked a waitress if she could check on the progress of our order. She came back out and saidd "5 minutes". 20 minutes later, still no food.
By this point the kids were really fed up - as you can imagine. Food then came out and, to be frank, it looked as though it had been thrown on the plate. We both had baguettes (they were completely out of wraps) and the filling was literally all over the plates.
We started to eat and within the first bite realised the filling (BBQ pulled pork) was STONE COLD! We called the waitress back over and she apologised (not her fault at all) and said she would take it back. We specifically said NOT to put it in a microwave, but surprise surprise...
Baguttes came back out, we asked if it had been microwaved and was told "no". I took one bite, and knew straight away it had. They had just chucked the plates in a microwave, making not only the baguette and filling boiling hot, but also the sloppy lettuce and.... wait for it.... MAYONAISE!! Yep, hot mayonaise.
We told her to take the food back and not to bother re-doing it, we would just get our money back - which we did. I worry that a 'chef' can get something as simple as a baguette SO wrong.
Not sure if he's even trained in food hygiene because if we had eaten that food, there's a very very high chance we would have been extremely ill with a nasty bout of salmonella!
The kids food was pretty dire too. When your kids won't even touch a burger, then you know there's something not right. The burger itself was fine, but the bun was falling to pieces as it was so stale. Disgusting.
Now I know you get what you pay for, but simple food hygiene and the competence to put together a simple baguette is not really asking too much, is it.
We will never, ever return to this place again. It is filthy, disgusting and a recipe for disaster.
Oh, I nearly forgot, whilst in the childrens play area we also witnessed (along with another family) a man in his 60's threatening to "knock out" a young child "and her old man"!!
It was like being in a zoo!

If you're thinking of going, don't. There are lots of really nice places in the area, and this is definitely not one of them.

We have eaten in this restaurant numerous times and would only have praise for those occasions, however five of us went for lunch today. Everything was fine, you expect a delay at the ordering points when they are busy but after only five minues one course came out for our party. we waited ten minutes before calling a member of staff asking where our meals were, she returned saying that they would be out shortly. Another delay, we spied the manager and asked him to look into the matter. He returned explaining that we had one dish from another table and that our meals had not been dished up yet. We returned what was left of the first meal and waited for our meals to arrive. They came in due course and all looked good. The meals were not exactly hot, but were tasty. We did not feel like complaining further after all that has gone on before. Five meals, three drinks and one dessert came to £48.88. Just under £10.00 a head, good value for Sunday Lunch.

Bridge inn has had complete makeover and we held our wedding reception there last weekend. The room was beautifully decorated, staff wonderful and very politeand attentive to us and our guests. The food was delicious. We even had a guest who is a chef who was impressed. Hotel rooms clean and tidy and comfortable. A big thank you to justin for playing gangnam 3 times for the kids. Big thankyou to steve, melissa and lucy for helping organise our special day and exceeding our expectations. Would definitely recommend.

We visited here on the 22nd December for my sons birthday party, we had 18 childrens and was great value for money. My son chose to go here out of a few other options as he had his party here the previous year. All the children had fun, and the new refurbishments in the childrens area were additional lighting which was much better to keep track of the little ones. When the party finished my family went through to the bar area which has had extensive refub which was much needed and i thought it was a better layout, cleaner and i love the individual boothes with their own tv screens which is a great touch. Happy to return here as the prices are good and if you have a members card you can earn points which you can use against your next visit.

The only downside is, they have changed the entrance which is now the old exit which was a little confusing for the people who have used this before as they dont read the signs so be careful on your way in.

Booked this pub for my mum's 80th birthday as it was about a halfway point for all the family to congregate. Harriette rang me about a week beforehand to offer us the function room so we could all be seated together, free of charge, so we accepted the offer. The restaurant has recently been refurbished and very clean and welcoming. They brought out plenty of helium balloons to decorate the chairs and did everything they could to help, bringing the processco on ice and glasses when we wanted. They were busy so there was a bit of a delay on the food but that worked well for us as it gave us plenty of time to catch up with family and take some photos. The food was fine and excellent value for money. Our young granddaughters thoroughly enjoyed the play area after lunch. Again, where can you go and get a Sunday Lunch for 2 and have access to this superb kids facility for £10. I would recommend this to anyone for a good value meal and particularly if you want somewhere to keep the kids entertained. Thank you to the Bridge Inn for making my mum's 80th extra special and no, I am not local so have only been here once a few years ago when meeting up with family nearby.

had been advised hotel had been done up but on arrival noticed it was only the bar / pub area which had been done up.
The pub area was lovely and the food was OK but the rooms are still old fashioned.

There was no soap in the room to wash your hands in the bathroom.
The room had a slight odour to it.
The windows couldn't be locked, room was on ground floor and it was cold outside so had to keep the heating on throughout the night on full blast
The bathroom was slightly mouldy
The bed was too soft and bulgy.

Given this place enough chances. Won't stay here again.

We knew when booking a table for 16 for a 21st birthday meal that we would be in the function room and that a casino night was going on in the bar. However we did not expect what we got. Table in room with two other very big parties having Christmas parties very cold and dimly lit. took over 30 mins to take our order and a further 50 mins for food to arrive. Orders mixed up people waiting for food and quality very poor. Obviouly sitting on a hot plate for too long. Unable to hold conversation ALS table right by food to bar son continuous traffic of waiters with food and people coming in having to push passed us. Also they failed to mention the Elvis tribute that came on half way through eating. when I sort help to find us a quieter area to sit and bring in the birthday cake the manger was very rude and defensive and didn't even let me speak. Told could not move chairs around for us to sit in one area that was free. Only saving grace were the lovely helpful waitresses who looked close to tears and stressed most of the evening. The main bar may have been refurbed but its still a rubbish place to eat
