I hosted my Charity Golf Day at Close House on Friday 12th July and from arriving at 07.30 to leaving at 21.30 the service throughout the day was nothing short of amazing - I must say the changes that have been made further enhance what was already a very nice course indeed and is always in fabulous condition which is a credit to the green keeping staff so well done to you guys and give yourselves a big pat on the back - it is meant to be the poor relation of the Colt Course but not in my eyes as it stands alone as a fabulous course in its own right and extremely good value for money in comparison to other top courses throughout the North East and well worth a visit as the setting is tremendous - although not a long course it has you thinking all the way round from hole 1 through to the 18th and I defy anyone to go to Close House and not be impressed with the place & the continuous improvements being made to establish this as a top venue not just in the North East but in the country. The food is excellent in the clubhouse and is to a very high standard so if you fancy a nice meal at reasonable prices then do not be afraid to pay a visit even if you are not a golfer.I must pay special mention to 2 people that helped make my day the success it was and they are John Glendinning (Head of Golf) who has been the epitome of professionalism and extremely meticulous from me booking the event to helping make the day go without a hitch which it certainly did and despite being a very busy man indeed will always make time to come and talk to you which is a huge plus in my book & to George (Golf Customer Services) who never stopped throughout the day as he ensured that everyone adhered to their allotted tee times to helping serve the meals to allocating buggies to parking the cars for the "Hole in One" challenge and was still on the go getting ready for another competition for the following day even after we had all finished our afternoon round - so my hat comes off to George who is one of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever met and who is a credit to Close House and that they should realise how lucky they are having him on their payroll and on yesterdays contribution alone deserves a pay rise - so well done George and thank you again. To top the day off one of the group had a "Hole in One" on the GVA sponsored 10th hole and won himself a BMW 1 series and I raised over £2000.00 for Grace House Childrens Hospice so the day could not have been any better than that as there were winners all round - so well done Close House and be proud of what you have achieved in a relatively short space of time.
