“Super value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

We stayed at The Manor booked through a "deals" website. We were not too sure what to expect and as we drove up the long bumpy drive, past a broken window we were slighty worried. However the welcome , wonderful suite with patio door onto a large balcony (a complimentary upgrade) and good food showed first appearances can be deceptive. The sun shone, the food was excellent and we were well entertained at dinner by a gent in a party who complained about every morcel (without cause we thought). The staff dealt with him in a friendly and professional manner, well done. We woke to a beautiful sunny morning with rabbits and a deer strolling across the fields outside our window followed by a hearty breakfast. The staff were all so helpful and friendly. Just repair the window!

Room Tip: The suite is the size of a small apartment with great views.

Recently had an excellent stay at Derwent Manor.

As others have mentioned the quality and value for money with the dinner, bed and breakfast deals are really good.
he
Arrived at the hotel to complimentary toasted teacakes and hot chocolate in t he bar which was a nice touch. Have been here a few times and each time have experienced feeling totally relaxed and comfortable from the second we arrive thanks to the surroundings and friendly staff.

The only slightly negative aspect of the stay was a mix up with the rooms on check in which meant me having to move to a different room from the one I was first given but the staff were very apologetic about the error.

The rooms themselves are very nice. Big in size, well maintained, comfortable beds and great views of the countryside. In response to those criticising the tvs, yes they're dated but have a good enough picture and sound and were fine to watch. I understand the hotel is slowly upgrading to wall mounted flat screens and I would personally prefer this to be a longer process rather than upgrading them all straight away and needing to increase their tarrif to pay for it!

The pool and sauna facilities are really good. The size of the pool was perfect in allowing quite a few people to relax or swim as they wished, and the view from the jacuzzi is lovely! It would be nice to see the changing faciltiies a bit more private.

As ever the restaurant couldn't be faulted, from the range and quality of the food, to the nice atmosphere, to the attention to detail and friendly service from the staff. A lot of thought obviously goes into the menu for the evening meals.

Breakfast is all made from good quality products and made to order so is hot and fresh when it is served to the table.

Finally I really like the fact check out is at 11am unlike a lot of hotels where it is 10am. This allows you to have a leisurely morning and breakfast without feeling a need to rush around or get up too early.

In summary another excellent stay. Derwent Manor should be proud of what they do. Look forward to coming back soon.

We stayed here with a groupon voucher wasn't sure what to expect but was thrilled overall. We were greeted at desk and received a very friendly welcome. Our room was spacious and clean although tv was old and too low to floor we had to lift it onto a table to be able to see it in bed. We headed straight to pool which was nice and clean and we were pleased to see you could purchase alcohol to enjoy in jacuzzi we tried to do this but were told we could only have water even though signs stayed they sold alcohol and on the way out there was a fridge in reception with it in !! We had our evening meal here which was nice enough and service was great all staff were really friendly and kind absolute credit to the hotel ! We had a few drinks after which weren't too expensive considering it was a hotel and really enjoyed our time cooked breakfast was average to be fair looked like it had been sat on hot plate all morning but Buffett was really lovely and large selection again breakfast staff were great ! We have booked to return on another special offer as we thought was worth price so I'm hoping our stay is just as good, if so we are seriously considering booking our wedding here as the grounds are beautiful and if the staff are still as great I'm sure every effort would be put into a wedding here. Looking forward to returning !!

Stayed for a one night deal which included hot chocolate and toasted teacake on arrival, a three course evening meal with wine and a full english breakfast before departure, all of which was of a good standard.

Could not fault anything , great open countryside views from room was a bonus. Good value for money and would go back.

Maybe the only downside was high prices at the bar but after wine with meal not really a problem.

Recently stayed at the Derwent Manor, the room we had was very spacious and contained two double beds, we eventually got the heating to work and the TV was very old fashioned. The bathroom was OK but in need of a revamp but all in all it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very nice and there was plenty to eat. However, we had a bar meal in the Grouse and Claret bar and found the portions very "child sized", there were only three desserts on offer including cheese and biscuits, which was disappointing, as we were still hungry!
It was a pleasant stay but would not be tempted to go back.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and after driving up the very bumpy approach road the hotel stands in all its glory in a beautiful location. The receptionist was very welcoming and allocated room 121 which was on the ground floor. The room was very large with two double beds and a large shower room. Like other reviews the only thing we initially made a comment on was the old fashioned tv but it worked. The room was clean and always warm. However it was the next morning after taking a shower that I noticed that the position of the sockets were too far away from the dressing table for the hairdryer to reach so I had to prop a mirror on the window cill to dry my hair. Service at breakfast was excellent and the quality and variety of food on offer was very good. The hotel offers free wifi but for the whole of our stay the wifi did not work in our room. I reported this to reception and they said to try another location in the room, which I did but still no joy. There is a computer available for guests to use in a room off reception. It is more like a broom cupboard so not very user friendly. Overall we had a very relaxing break and would recommend the hotel to our family and friends. Great location and amazing building.

Many thanks, yes the drive does need attention, the hairdryer could do with a longer cable, wi fi is free and does generally work and the computer room is small telephone kiosk size but privacy is required as well as security.

thank you your comments have been very helpfull.
