“The Pytchley Delivers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

Long day. Long journey. We were ready for a good meal.

The Pytchley is a hotel, pub and restaurant in a small village that is easily accessible from the M1 (Crick junction). Our booking was friendly and efficient, and that characterised the service provided.

Our room (top floor) was well furnished, ensuite, and comfortable.

But what about the meal? Excellent. Basically there is a choice of steak, or steak - but the meat was cooked excellently, and the entire meal was enjoyable.

The restaurant is large and I can imagine that at weekends, when it is full, it could be noisy and different to our mid-week, quieter, experience.

Breakfast fine.

Are going again? Definitely.

Thank you for your lovely feedback following your recent stay with us. I am delighted to hear that you found a warm and friendly welcome at The Pytchley, and that you were able to relax and enjoy a good meal after a long journey.

I am particularly pleased to hear that you enjoyed our steaks - we serve only the best matured Aberdeen Angus steaks and the quality of our British meat across the whole menu is something upon which we have built up an enviable reputation over the years. You are right to comment on the size of our restaurant, and it can indeed get very busy at weekends, but with tables available in two distinctly different dining rooms and throughout our informal bar, we would alway try to find a spot to suit your preference.

You kindly say that you would definitely come again - so we look forward to welcoming you for your next visit.

Kind regards
Tracy

A group of us stayed at the Pytchley in October 2013 for a friends' reunion. They have certainly got the formula right at the Pytchley: the restaurant was buzzing on Saturday night. The food was hearty, the portions large and the atmosphere great. The rooms are luxurious, breakfast is huge and the prices are very reasonable. What a great place to stay.

Thank you DavidHUk for your very generous comments. We are really pleased to hear that you had such a positive experience at The Pytchley and that you enjoyed the atmosphere here. You say that you were travelling with a group but do not say whether you were visiting friends or family in the area or whether you were on a business trip, but either way we do hope that you will revisit us should you find yourself in the area at any stage in the future.

Many thanks once again

Lovely rooms, well decorated and very clean. Spotless bathroom. The only thing I would say is that the bed in the "double" room was more like a 3/4 bed and the rooms are extremely hot! I expected a little more for my money but other than that really friendly staff and I would definately stay again

Many thanks for your review. I am delighted that you found our staff to be really friendly and our rooms to be spotlessly clean. Our Housekeepers take a great deal of pride in the presentation of our rooms, and I know your feedback is greatly appreciated by our hardworking team.

With regards to the one or two details you mention, I would like to just reassure you that all double beds in our premium rooms are a minimum 4’ 6’ standard double size, but if you prefer a bit of extra comfort our executive rooms are available offering kingsize or superking size beds for a very reasonable supplement, and in any case would always be offered as a free upgrade on check-in if available.

I am very sorry to hear that your room was overly hot when you visited. You are kind enough to say that you would definitely come again - please note for future reference that all rooms have double-glazed windows which can be partially or fully opened, and that radiators are fitted with individual thermostatic controls for your personal preference.

Once again, thank you for your kind comments and we look forward to welcoming you to The Pytchley again soon.

The Pytchley was very busy ( a Sunday afternoon) staff gave a warm friendly welcome. A varied menu also catered for "Celiac" meals. We both enjoyed the sunday roast very good portions and nicely priced.

Thank you norfolkkenmare, for your lovely comments. It sounds as if you happened by The Pytchley “by chance” and so I am particularly pleased that you found the hospitality and welcome to be as it should be. Our traditional roast is very popular, and we can get very busy on Sundays, so I am delighted that you enjoyed the experience, and do hope that we can tempt you to return soon.

Kind regards

We have visited this hotel/pub three or four times now and can honestly say that the quality of the rooms has improved. They have little messages that make it seem really personal. the room was very clean with good quality bed linen and even a cafetiere to make coffee. the bathroom was very clean with excellent fittings.

They do a special deal on steaks for dinner including a glass of wine which is good value, the breakfast is huge and there is a large choice for those not wanting the full English, my only criticism was that there was no water available at breakfast only juice and milk as cold drinks.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms in the older part of the building as these are bigger than those in the mor...

Thank you OwlTours for taking the time to post such a lovely and detailed review. We have indeed invested time and energy (as well as expense!) over the past year or so bringing our rooms up-to-date, and I am delighted that the special effort we have put into equipping our rooms with personal little extras has not gone unnoticed.
We truely appreciate all customer feedback, and we think your suggestion about offering water at the breakfast service is excellent, and we have now introduced this idea!
With regards to the room tip, our rooms are all individual and vary in size and character, with ensuites offering either bath with shower over or walk-in shower options. We would always encourage guests to let us know if they have any special requests and we do our very best to accommodate requests for larger rooms or upgrades to Executive rooms wherever possible (two of our largest rooms are in fact in the newer part of the building!).

We hope to welcome you again to The Pytchley sometime again soon.
Kind Regards
Tracy Demetri

Decided to go back for a second visit with the family, but have to say I was a little disappointed. The food is quite good, I would describe it as decent standard for pub grub. The issue with this place is there ordering system, as you have to write your own orders at the table and take it to the bar, where the order is written again by the waitress and then sent to the kitchen. This process can be very frustrating, particularly when they seem to have a number of staff that could take order and serve as in normal restaurants. By the time I had eaten my starters, which was very nice as it was a sharing platter we had drank the wine owing to the time it was taking to serve our meals, time had ticked on and a number of us were not that hungry by the time the main meal arrived. This place was very busy and to be fair that may have been the reason for the wait, but having to queue and give your order to (One member of staff ),who was taking the orders e.g. writing them down and asking questions about individual meals again, was a long laborious process and when you are out with family having to leave the table to do this is not really what you want to waste time doing, in addition they keep your credit card behind the bar although a plastic keep card is given and the card locked in a box is this all really necessary, this has put us off going again as the food although good, is average pub grub and having been to number of other pubs that are on a par with this don't think we will be returning for sometime.

My sister in law and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were all so helpful and kind.........every single one of them. Our room was very clean and comfortable witth crisp white cotton sheets on the beds. We took advantage of the steak deals when we ate in the restaurant for dinner. We chose 2 fillet steaks, which came with chips and peas and a salad garnish, although we opted for a selection on vegetables instead. Also included in the deal was a large glass of wine.....all for £37 for two. The restaurant was packed with locals and is very well known in the area for it's steaks. The fillets were delicious and cooked to perfection.
We would definately stay again if we wanted a night or two in Northamptonshire...........it was wonderful.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 22 which was comfortable. Rooms are individually decorated and all looked clean an...
