We tried this restaurant for the first time today.
Our first impressions were good as the Manageress gave us a table pretty quickly and ensured our older children were given crayons and paper to keep them occupied.
However, it all went down hill from there.
We had to wait quite some time for our starters although, to be fair, the pate and deep fried camembert with chutney were good.
As for the main, we waited and waited and waited and then when the main arrived, it looked like the restaurant had run out of plates as mine did not match the others.
My husband had the venison and the presentation was poor.
My slow cooked lamb, although very tender, was tasteless and the yorkshire pudding soggy.
As for the desert, we waited so long that I went up to the bar and found out that apparently they had been experiencing problems at the till and that our order had never made it to the kitchen.
We got our order pretty promptly after this. We had ordered a trio of deserts but the waiter had misunderstood us and brought ice-cream as well. Plus, the creme brulee (which was one of the deserts in the trio) had turned into a panacotta!?!
When I questionned this, the manageress just said they'd run out of creme brulee. Did they just assume I would not be able to tell the difference between a panacotta and a creme brulee?
To be fair, the manageress then asked me if I wanted to change my desert but, after all the wait, I certainly was not going to wait even longer to get another desert.
The deserts were excellent but it was a case of too little too late really.
We couldn't wait to leave with three children who had just had enough of sitting at a table for hours.
So, in short, worth a visit for a desert on a week day but I would not recommend going there for a Sunday roast.
