“Lovely Listed A-1 Manor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

I was not in the lodge or villas but in the mansion house itself. The studio suite was huge with a huge bath and as it was a corner room I had 2 lovely views. Short distance from Canterbury, Dover Castle, Hever Castle and many other wonderful attractions. I also met some lovely locals who invited me for tea. Will definitely return. From the most recent reviews I believe it's been redecorated because the furnishings were a bit shabby when I was there, with a wooden board as a kitchen counter. Still well worth the price and location.

We've just enjoyed a short break at Broome Park staying in one of the lodges. The lodges are well appointed and very comfortable with every luxury. The main house is elegant and well appointed. The swimming pool is modest in size but spotlessly clean. The staff are delightful, attentive and charming. On our second evening as we walked in to the bar the gentleman behind the bar remembered our drinks order. We ate in the bar rather than the restaurant and the food was superb, a 'simple' steak sandwich was turned into an elegant dish.
Our only disappointment was the weather which meant we couldn't explore the grounds.

What a fantastic place! The building is so grand and stately, and we had been slightly worried that we had only booked a studio, but no need - the room was enormous! We had a lounge area at one end, with the bedroom at the other, plus a dining area, small kitchen area and an en-suite. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and if David W. is correct in thinking that DRI may not continue the lease it would be a real shame, as we would definately go again. The only criticism I may have would be that we do like a full kitchen for self catering, but as we were warned in advance it was not a huge problem.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor in a room that overlooked the driving range - would recommend as a studo...

Thank you for your review – we’re really glad to read that you enjoyed your stay at Broome Park! We hold our staff to an extremely high standard of service, and we’re delighted that they were able to provide you with all the information and assistance you needed during your stay.

As you’re aware, the apartments within Broome Park Mansion House only have partial kitchens. Full details of the amenities available in all sizes of accommodation can be found on the resort’s listing on our website, and we recommend that guests take a look at this prior to arrival, as it contains a lot of useful information about the resort.

We’re not aware of any plans to dispose of accommodation at the resort, and we’d love for you to return here – we hope that you’ll come back to Broome Park for another stay, and we look forward to seeing you again!

We have just spent a week in a one bedroom apartment in the Mansion House. I understand that these are not owned or operated by DRI and that the lease is due to expire soon, that rather shows in the presentation. Our apartment was on the second floor (third floor for american readers) and would have formed the servants quarters in the house's glory days, it was difficult to walk about without hitting your head on a beam or door lintel (I am only 5'10"), the WiFi does not reach that high in the building and there was a thick layer of grime and dead flies on the window cills. There was no non slip surface in the bath but a mat was provided when we asked. As previously noted the cooking facilities are very limited, a toaster, a kettle and a microwave but we were made aware of that at the time of booking and reminded in a phone call a few days before we arrived.

We’re sorry to read that there were aspects of your recent stay at Broome Park which caused you disappointment. As you’re aware, the Broome Park Mansion House is affiliated to Diamond Resorts – we do, however, hold our affiliates to a high standard of accommodation and we’re sorry that you have been disappointed in this regard.

Due to the layout of the Mansion House, the rooms on the second floor have lower ceilings than those on the floors below, and we’d recommend that you request a room on the ground or first floor if this is a cause for concern.

We have also noted your comments about wi-fi service at the resort. This is due to be addressed as part of the resort’s refurbishment programme over the next few years, and we feel sure that if you return once this refurbishment has been completed, you’ll appreciate the difference!

There’s no excuse for poor housekeeping, and we’re really sorry for the impression that this has given you. Please be assured that your comments have been brought to the attention of the resort’s housekeeping team.

We really hope that this hasn’t dissuaded you from returning to Broome Park, and we look forward to being of service to you again.

Broome is approximately 2 hours from Heathrow. We took a train to the Eurotrain then a taxi. The grounds are beautiful. The main building, when arriving in the cab looked majestic. Our accomodation was on the fourth floor in the Mansion House which has no elevator. We were fortunate in that a young man who works for the hotel was kind enough to lug our bags up for us. Our room was very clean and comfortable and was equipped with a microwave, toaster, hot water maker and refrigerator. The staff was great! They were friendly and extremely professional. Broome is not too far from Canterbury which has many historial sites, a nice shopping area and was easily reached by bus.

Room Tip: If you know in advance you'll have a lot of luggage, request a room on a lower level. If you can...

This place is beautiful, we went for new years and stayed in one of the log cabins which was very spacious. Had to large bedrooms which both had large flat screen TV's as well as a even bigger one in the living room. There was two bathrooms, one ensuite and a family, both had a shower and a bath. There is also a washing machine so we did all our washing the day before we left so we didnt have to worry about it when we got home. The whole cabin was decorated beautifully and spotlessly clean.

The cabin was a short walk from the main house and the facilites which included a indoor swimming pool and spa. On check in were greeted by very friendly staff who we had a nice chat with and were even happy to show us around the estate and showed us where everything was.

Broome park is about 10-15 min drive to canterbury so we went there a few days, looked around the cathedral, did a bit of shopping and even saw a show which had stepen mulhern and christian from eastenders in.

We all enjoyed the break and would definaly go back again.

Thankyou very much for your kind comments.
Since your stay over the New Year we have had the second phase of our lodges refurbished so if you come back you will see brand new soft furnishing and bathrooms. This does mean that the en-suite bathroom no longer has a bath but it has a massive shower to make up for it and you still have the bath in the smaller bathroom.
I am very pleased that you found the staff friendly and approachable, this is of utmost importance to me that we offer excellent service to everybody that visits Broome Park.
I hope that you do have the opportunity to come back and let us know if there is anything that we can do for you in advance.
Thank you once again for your feedback.

We recently attended a friend's wedding here and it was one of the most beautiful wedding setting we had been to. The house itself is very grand but the staff are very obliging and the marquee set up for the wedding was fabulous. Rooms are very grand and the house is even available for a time share. Highly recommended.
