“Excellent food & service. We will return.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2011

Friendly helpful staff. New menu imaginative and good selection. Sixty covers on a weekday night speaks highly of its popularity with locals. Staff friendly cheerful and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our seven night stay.

Room Tip: Telephone hotel and discuss your requirements.

This was our second visit to Dormy House a warm, clean, comfortable welcoming place to stay especially after a cold winter day out bird watching. The food is unpretentious but of good quality and freshly cooked with alternative options to the carvery available. Excellent breakfasts made to order.
Staff are helpful and friendly.
The January special offers made it very reasonably priced and we were offered an upgrade to a superior room with very comfortable king sized bed at no extra cost.

My husband and I booked into this hotel for the night as we'd come away for the weekend last minute. The receptionist was very friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable but dinner was a let down. The potatoes from the carvery were the worst I'd ever tasted (sure they had been reheated) and the other vegetables were not much better. We couldn't complain as the waitresses had vanished. For the price of the room I would have expected freshly cooked breakfasts but they were served via the carvery heated section. Their website states continental breakfasts avaliable....no mention of that from the one member of staff in the restaurant in the morning. As for the price for wine and coffee you could be forgiven for thinking you were in central London.

Excellent service and value. We were nine exciteable 40-somethings using the dormy house as a base for a long hike along the coast. The staff handled us very professionally ('Tore' was especially friendly), the rooms very clean, and the breakfasts were a great start to the day. Great bar for early evening drinks, big car park, and 2 minutes walk to the Coasthopper bus stop (the only way to travel on the norfolk coast). The cleaners were very jolly, too. clearly everyone enjoys there job, even when dealing with us rowdy lot!

Booked into the Dormy House Hotel at short notice as we couldn't get a room anywhere else. Had eaten at the carvery a couple of years before and thought it would be reasonable. How wrong we were!

The room on the first floor was spacious but in poor condition. The carpet was grubby up to a couple of inches from the skirting board, the pine furniture was covered in scratches and the bathroom floor had not been properly cleaned. The grouting between the bathroom tiles was mustard coloured in places instead of white. The curtain pole had been replaced and the old screw holes hadn't been filled. The wooden batten the pole was fixed to also had bare, unpainted wood where the old pole had been fixed.

The entrance off the road was full of deep pot holes making it very hazardous driving in. The staff were not particularly cheerful either. Having written to the management highlighting the issues and including photos, we didn't even get a reply.

Would not stay there again. It was very poor value for money.

my husband and i (really)stayed at the dormy hotel in july and although we only had one night there we would have no problem recomending the hotel to anyone, the accomodation was very clean and the food first class.I think the location is also spot on if you dont want to drive into cromer a 15 min walk saves the hassle of parking and a 5 min walk tother way takes you into the village and a grand little pub all in all very good value for money.
