“A great day out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

Visited on a September weekday with my husband, 3 year old and baby, the park was quite quiet. I wasn't expecting much but we ended up spending the whole day there.

The staff there are very passionate and the keepers talks are worth listening to. The otters are the main attraction but the butterfly enclosure and Lynx were also interesting. We enjoyed looking for the wallabies (and found some!) but we couldn't see the wolves unfortunately. We also had great fun on the childrens (and adults!) play area, the zip wire was especially good

So whilst there are not tons of animals it's a really enjoyable day, we took a picnic so can't comment on the food. Recommended.

“Mixed but improving”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

We had a really good day out here. Although some of the exibits and facilities were in need in need of updating, it was very clear to us that they are working on it. Some of the new enclosures ( walk through wallaby enclosure or deer encounter) were excellent and well designed. A huge new play park was fantastic, one of the best I've seen. The setting waas wonderful and the focus on British, ex-British, and endangered animals was evident. On the down side they need to sort the toilet situation out!

“Worth a visit but there are better wildlife places”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

This was my 2nd visit. It is a nice park the otters particularly are good. However as with last time i went many animals werent visible. As it is a zoo they should have animals that are more visible. Thought it was overpriced we were there 2.5 hrs and saw some sections twice. You can get better value at other wildlife places but the woodland theme was appropriate to the forest & def not a write off.

“A natural setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

I have been here lots of times, and what I like most is the natural setting. The animals all seem happy, well cared for and able to behave naturally. The enclosures allow for animals to act how they should. Some of the animals, such as the wolves can be quite elusive despite their huge size, but the keepers can tell you the best times to catch them out and about and there are feeding times for all the animals.
There is a really good variety of animals (not sure where the wild boar and badgers went though)
The Otters are just lovely.
The cafe is a bit dated looking, but the food is good. The staff are helpful and friendly. The toilets are at the start/end so if you have small children, a visit to the loo is a good idea before going in.
Most of the paths would be accessible with a pushchair or wheelchair (though there are some slightly steep parts)
There are two main children's play areas ( a smaller one as you go in for little children and then a larger area near the deer for older children.) The apparatus is great looking and fun, but in the school holidays it can be very busy and noisy in these areas.
I do love it here, but prefer to go on quieter days out of season, when you tend to see more animals and less people

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

This was the first time we had visited the park. Why did it take us so long to go there?
Firstly, the staff (every single member we encountered) were friendly, helpful and genuinely lovely.
The animals - super selection of animals which appear very well looked after. The open deer area where the deer come and see you to say hi was a super experience.
Feeding times, talks and encounters were available throughout the day and were fun and informative.
Our favourite encounter was with Mr Hedges the hedgehog. What a superstar!
The information boards displayed around the park were suitable for all ages to learn something new.
Play areas - superb quality play areas for younger and older children. FAB!
Café - reasonable price and selection, clean and tidy, friendly staff.
Shop - how fantastic to see reasonably priced gifts.
It took us an hour to get there from where we live and we will be visiting again for sure.
