“Everything you would want”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Stayed here for the second year running for one night whilst working in Uxbridge. Located on quite a busy junction but no traffic noise at all in the bedroom. Car park full-ish by 6.00pm. Stayed in no.118, small but perfectly formed and well equipped. No issues with cleanliness.Good size telly with free access to all Sky Sports channels.Bed comfortable and individually controlled air con/ heating. Shower excellent.Staff efficient if not overly friendly i.e. what you would expect in a business hotel. Lounge and bar charming and surprisingly full of character. Dinner very good but not cheap,(note - the food prices on the website are out of date; there has been an increase of a quid or two on most things). Breakfast excellent. All in all I'd be more than happy to stay here again.

2nd time of staying at The Red Lion. A well furnised hotel with a feeling quality and attention to detail regarding the upkeep of the premises. The Room was quite small and the double-bed was on the small side, abeit with a lovely down quilt. Room spotlessly clean and well furnised. TV had Sky sports available and Hotel free WiFi.

Restaurant very pleasant with a varied menu. And as Fullers Pub the London Pride was excellent. Restaurant is busy, so book a table. Recommended

Hotel Car Park is quite small and tight!

Room Tip: Larger People ought to check beforehand on the bed sizes!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

We stayed 2 nights at the Red Lion Hotel this weekend whilst attending a Sports Event at Brunell University. The hotel is well placed for this, within easy distance, and there was adequate free parking for the cars.

We opted for a "superior" room, as on a previous stay we had done this and had a lovely room. This time we were allocated the "Brunell Room", which is poorly situated near to reception and quite noisy. The room itself was pleasant with some general wear and tear evident. They go do with installing some plug sockets closer to the bed so phones/alarms could be plugged in where you could reach. The main problem we had was with the bed, which was a lovely 4-poster. The mattress on one side was completely flat, just at hip level which meant I had a very uncomfortable night sleeping in a hole. In the morning I raised this with reception, and advised it had prevent me from sleeping. The gentleman on reception did not appear to share my concern and had difficulty remembering what room we were in. It came as little surprise when we returned that night that nothing had been done to rectify the situation, so the mattress was turned and my husband endured the "hole" the second night.

Breakfast was nice, although not included in the on-line rate.

If staff had been more helpful in addressing our issue with the bed our stay would have been much improved. I would not waste my money on a superior room in the future.

I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst visiting my daughter at Brunel University, which is just down the road. The hotel appears to be quite old, and it is quite atmospheric. My room was comfortable and warm and had an in-room coffee making set up that was well equipped and even included some Shrewsbury biscuits, which I hadn't had for years. The full breakfast was superb - sausage, black pudding, tomato, bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms - about the best I've had. In the evenings I had the bangers and mash one night, which was decent but not special, and the fish and chips on the other night, which was very good - there were two very large pieces of fish that tasted excellent and some interesting home made tartar sauce.

The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The layout of the hotel is rather labyrinthine, but it would be hard to get lost :-) I took away a point on the room rating as on the second night the loo wouldn't stop trickling after being flushed!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

We stayed Saturday night in December. The room was excellent. The breakfast was also excellent. Well presented, with a good choice and the dining room very comfortable. We had a lunch with four other couples and that was 5 Star. Very well set table, excellent staff, the food was spot on. Excellent. No complaints at all.

I stayed at the hotel with my family during a business trip.
Everything worked very well - The rooms where big and the service very good.
The only slightly negative thing was the breakfast buffet which was a little borring - everything else was just perfect.
