I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst visiting my daughter at Brunel University, which is just down the road. The hotel appears to be quite old, and it is quite atmospheric. My room was comfortable and warm and had an in-room coffee making set up that was well equipped and even included some Shrewsbury biscuits, which I hadn't had for years. The full breakfast was superb - sausage, black pudding, tomato, bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms - about the best I've had. In the evenings I had the bangers and mash one night, which was decent but not special, and the fish and chips on the other night, which was very good - there were two very large pieces of fish that tasted excellent and some interesting home made tartar sauce.
The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The layout of the hotel is rather labyrinthine, but it would be hard to get lost :-) I took away a point on the room rating as on the second night the loo wouldn't stop trickling after being flushed!
