“Fantastic Overall Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

There are three things which really matter in a pub-restaurant,

First impressions are important and the general ambience of the location and outlet are geat. This has to be a hit with the lake in front of the pub, and the hi-tech park within which it is situated, with ample parking except at peak times. On the demerit side, internally the furniture is getting very tired and well overdue for renewal. Mr Wetherspoon please note!

Secondly, the welcome and service are the vital ingredients in creating happy customers. My experience is that all staff are cheerful, efficient, knowledgeable and go that extra couple of miles to be sure you are happy.

Thirdly, they are limited by the universal Wetherspoons formula, meaning the menu is cheap-and-cheerful and finish-cooked to a standard manual specification. But then at these very low prices in a nationally known chain, could you really expect a gourmet experience? Suffice to say, they do their very best to please in this area also, leaving the customer to choose wisely (or not!) from a wide range of standard and specialist items including veggie, low fat and so on. Look out for special offer days - their 'Fish Friday' is a highlight for me with all ingredients cooked fresh to order - not overcooked on a hotplate for hours.

Put simply, I always look forward to those occasions I can get there.

“An above average Wetherspoons”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

Visited here last W-end with Family. The landscaping this place is set in is stunning. Albeit it is in an Industrial Park. The whitehouse itself is very modern in looks and design. As usual an extensive menu available. Pricing and Deals always Good and varied. We chose the following - Rump Steak( Slightly Tough and on the small side) - Traditional Fish & Chips ( As you would expect) - Gourmet Chicken Burger ( great Flavours) My only Criticism would be that the Food could be slightly hotter. Otherwise an enjoyable experience and worth the visit :-)

“Somewhere to eat”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

Went to the whitehouse for dinner, was very quiet and found a table easily. Was much on the menu esp for the two for £8.79. Ordered food and drink at the bar. Food arrived was good okay but was nothing special. Its not as good as used to be in this pub.

“Good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

One of the better Spoons that I've been to. I just went for the old reliable beer and burger, it was presented on a board with a chip bowl - I'd never seen this at a Spoons before. It tasted pretty good (nothing special), the Mexican burger could have been hotter spice wise.

The service at the bar was fast and friendly, they'd noticed that my lager shandy (I was driving, OK) looked a bit flat, they let me taste it and it was, so he poured me another one from another pump. Sorted. When I was seated with food, the female waitress that seemed to be a Supervisor there came over and asked if all was OK, which was a nice tough for a budget place like this.

The view outside the window, to a large pond outside was good. Outdoor seating was also available on a patch of grass.

All in all, I'd recommend coming here if you're here on business or in this location already. Not worth any special trip here or anything of course, I was here to eat and waste time while waiting for a friend coming from central London.

“Truly worst than average!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013 via mobile

It's on a business park and stuck in the 90's both in design, menu and vibe. I had a chef's salad which was a perfect example of how to take 6 items and combine them in to an unappetising luke warm salad slop. Bowl of chips was fine - but you can't live on chips alone. Sticky tables, ripped seats, faded pictures, dirty walls, smelly toilets - the list goes on. It has a captive market and limited competition and it shows.
