“Truely excellent. No where better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014 via mobile

Been going here for years. Always been consistent, no curry house better for food anywhere in west london. Service is always helpful. Perhaps could do with a few comps like onion bahjis, salads like other restaurants in the area. Decor could do with a revamp. Stuck in 70's. The korma and tikka are amazing. Would recommend going here for sure.

“Our 1st choice for local food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

We eat here regularly and either eat in or have a take away on a weekly basis. The staff and owner always greet us enthusiastically and the service and food is always of a high standard.

“Treated like Animals In a Zoo! ... and very average food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Walked past this place around 10.30pm, and made a spontaneous decision to see if it was still serving food. Despite only 2 customers they said we could eat. We were seated, ordered drinks, got drinks and started perusing the menu. I wanted to ask the waiter about some dishes but he wasn't willing to come over for at least 20 mins. Yet when he did he suddenly started hurrying us to order. We therefore queried if there would bb sufficient time for us to eat a starter and a main and were told it was not a problem. However, when the starter came out and we were midway through it he kept asking if we had finished so he could take the plates. We were still clearly eating. This gave the waiter the hump, and when we both gt up to g t use the loo he looked annoyed as he wanted to serve the main right away. Peopel do not want to be speed fed like that, a break shoudl be given between courses.

When he did serve the main we were appalled because he virtually threw the plates down on the table and just slapped the food down quickly and walked off. As my friend said, he treated us "like animals in a zoo"! Before we had eaten half of it we were told they were about to close and refused a drink to have with the rest of our meal. The waiters just stood around watching us, which ruined our enjoyment of the occassion, as we felt unwelcome in there. I did say we weren't happy and that he shouldn't have let us in if not prepared to give us time to eat what we ordered but he didn't care. We had a hard time trying to avoid being thrown out into the cold and wet whilst waiting for a cab home.

As for the food, it was pretty average run-of-the mill Indian food - the kind that is aimed at the blander English palette, and doesn't have the flavour and depth of spicing that indicates authentic quality Indian cooking. Tasted like the curries were made from pastes with no fresh spices, rather like the Bangladeshi restaurants that seem to dominate the scene round here. It was also very greasy. All in all a rather limited and unadventurous menu that seemed very dated, like the surroundings. Nothing wrong with traditional Indian, it's my favourite, but it just wasn't cooked very well.

Neither of us would return because we disliked the staff attitude towards us, and the food was very average at best.

As for the food

“Always great - the perfect local restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013 via mobile

We live locally to Birothi and have been there many times. The food is very good, always consistent and the staff are always friendly. There are probably "fancier" Indian restaurants around but we return again and again because the quality of food is always really good, and we find it excellent value for money too. We also like the fact that there are booths down one side of the room which makes it feel quite cosy yet relaxed. We have yet to find tastier nan breads anywhere else, and their lime pickle packs a wonderful punch. A good choice of items on the menu overall. Give it a go, we reckon you'll be back!

“Brilliant value buffet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013 via mobile

Live locally so go here regularly. Always great food - definitely book if on a Friday or Saturday night as it gets very busy. But any other time will be fine.

Went last time on Sunday for their buffet - only £8.50 per person which is amazing value. First of all you get lots of popadoms and the usual sauce etc.

Starter consisted of chicken tikka, Bombay potatoes, onion baji and some salad.

Main course - you get 2 main dishes (we had chicken tikka masala and a lamb/spinach dish), rice, naan bread and a side dish (we had cheese and peas). So much for just the 2 of us!

Also good for takeaway, but rarely ready on time - would rather them tell us it would be longer as not a problem just better to wait in the comfort of your house than standing in there. But we still go back as food is of a very high quality and 10% off for takeaways.
