“Loved this place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Everything about this hotel is fabulous. Our casita was exquisite...simply and tastefully decorated and so comfortable. From our beautiful white canopy bed, we had an amazing view of the islands from our huge picture window. We also enjoyed reading on the daybeds right outside of the bedroom, and watching the sunset and view from the pool. The food was simple but well prepared, the drinks inexpensive, the staff super friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was so relaxing. Andy, the assistant manager, was very helpful, and arranged day trips by boat to Black Island and Pass Island. Both were beautiful days. It was truly a little paradise.

I have stayed at a LOT of places on Busuanga. Alfaro may be my favorite. The value is outstanding. Compared to other mid to high priced hotels in the area, Al Faro beats them all. A lighthouse in the middle of the Pearl/Puerto Del Sol Bay, it stands completely alone. The only way to get there is via free boat pickup from Puerto Del Sol or Busuanga Bay Lodge. Either resort is happy to call them to get you over there. Then....the long walk up to the top and it's worth it. A view of all the islands off the west side of Busuanga are laid out in front. The bar has this incredible view as it's backdrop. And the POOL. Even if you are not staying the night, an afternoon here is worth it. Watch sunset with a cocktail in the beautiful lagoon like swimming pool. The food is amazing. Nenita (the owner) and Netnet make every meal something special (my favorite was the fish with the white sauce, had it 3x). Jimmy, the owner is a great host and makes every stay a different experience. Challenge him to a game of Bocce ball in their specially made Bocce Ball court. The waitresses are another huge asset. Selma, Mary Cho, Tin Tin, Angy, they all were fun to hang out with and always quick with a joke.
Make sure to check this place out, if not to stay, at least for an afternoon for a good time. For rooms, they have bungalows and rooms in the lighthouse (bungalows are more private). Enjoy.

Room Tip: Take a bungalow for more privacy. the top room of the lighthouse has quite a view though!!

We found ourselves in Busuanga after a week on a boat at sea. Al Faro was an ideal choice for us because it is located next to a yacht club where we docked our boat. This is an eco-freindly resort that uses battery power for most of the day.The accommodations are comfortable yet still quite simple. All rooms have a fantastic view of the bay outside. Food is affordable and very simple menu. There are other places to eat just across the bay which can be reached by speed boat or kayak. The resort can also be reached by car from both the airport or Coron town. Very serene and tranquil setting. A great choice for a relaxing holiday in Busuanga.

It's difficult to imagine a more perfect way of getting away... the owners are wonderful hosts, free and generous with information, kayak, snorkel equipment, and have a balanced and sane approach to their business.. so even though you are a long way from anything resembling a shop, you will not get ripped off.. (if I remember after profiting from it, the extremely good prosecco sparkly white wine was 550 pesos, or less than 10 pounds) ... i think the beers were about 66p or $1 during happy hour... and the food is fresh and well cooked... Small swimming pool, but much more profitable to go down to the amazingly clean sea (you won't get that at Boracay's main beach!) .. well designed, peaceful, friendly, perfect for couples who want to spend time together, or a group of friends, or a single traveller wanting to meet people.. oh, and good music too! chilled and interesting...

Room Tip: Just talk to the owners.. they are genuinely flexible and friendly

Bungalow's

Beautiful view from your bed, clean, comfortable with a varanda and hammok. Included is instant coffee at your doorstep, ready to enjoy when you wake up (That is if you are not a coffee-snob, I have to say I tend to prefer brewed coffee). Hot showers available in some bungalows on request. Pool Infinity pool - awesome, the view is stunning and even more beautiful than in the photos on Agoda. This is your answer to tranquility

Food

The food is good and good value for money, although the menu is limited to a few choises. Cannot complain about the taste, the meals were beautiful, especially on the valentines dinner. Beer and drinks are reasonably priced. Service Staff is friendly, courteous. are great people and are eager to please their guests.

Location

The location is great if you are in need of a few days of peace and quiet. No bugging to buy anything, no hussle and bussle. Island trips can be arranged on request. Overall One of the best places I've stayed at during a 3 week visit to the Phillipines. I would definetly recommend this resort to anyone who would like to relax and enjoy this somewhat remote locality. You are required to climb a steep set of stairs to get to the resort, but it's all worth it. I do consider myself quite fit, and did not find the stairs to be a challenge, though you may disagree if you are not used to physical exercise. Al Faro is for those who can live without the modern commodities of TV and fast internet and hot water if not requested. It's a beautiful place with great people and an ideal escape to those who can appreacite the tanquil surroundings.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Island trips can be arranged on request, but you may want to choose this location for relaxing and go to Coron Town to see the limestone islands and lakes.

Beautiful place, so helpful and friendly staff, clean rooms and such relaxing atmosphere!
This was a perfect place to relax before really starting our three week long Palawan exploring :) Many friends we met on our journey had not so good experiences from more expensive places, but this was really worth every peso. And this hotel has the most beautiful sunset!
We hope to go back there one day. Many thanks to Jimmy and Nenita for their hospitality, our trip was perfect!

We had a great time in Al Faro for 6 nights. We especially enjoyed talking to Jimmy and Nenita, but also to others guests, as the owners create a real confident and simple atmosphere. It's big enough to have your intimacy but small as well to know people and feel at home.

The site has been very well designed, even on the small details. The rooms are well decorated, clean and have wonderful views.

We and our kids (1 and a half and 6 years old) enjoyed the swimming pool, kayak and island hopping, activities you can arrange through Al Faro. You have to be careful with the kids, because of the slope, steps and so, but they have also big space kids can use as playground and the staff of Al Faro have also an eye on them.

Concerning the food, they have chosen to make it simple for the dinner (2 choices) and have a menu for lunch. It's good and even if you want to change a bit, there is a resort on the other side of the bay you can try.
