“great place for a coffee”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

Met a few friends at the Banana Garden on Saturday afternoon. Although it was quite busy there was still plenty of room around our table. The panini and coffee were great and the atmosphere friendly. The staff did all they could to make our visit perfect and the refill for £1 was very welcome. I also loved looking at the unusual items in the shop.

“Superb cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

As a family we have been regularly visiting the Banana Garden since it first opened. They have gradually extended the range of food and drink on offer and they regularly run a variety of offers. The cafe tables are nestled amongst an array of interesting items, which are both attractive to look at and tempting to purchase. There is also a small patio at the rear, which is a real sun trap in the summer. We have spent many relaxed hours there, I have never felt rushed, I have taken friends and family all of whom have requested a return visit. As a vegetarian I find they have a good range of food on offer and we have never had any complaints regarding the delicious range of cakes. Finally, the staff are very friendly and accommodating, they work extremely hard but are always polite and efficient, the fact we return week after week says it all!

“An asset to the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

The Banana Garden is a very welcome asset to the Oval area. It is great to have somewhere to get good coffee and food so close to home. My husband who is often disappointed by coffee served in major chains will ask if I fancy a coffee at the Banana Garden. The service is friendly and helpful, the decor is constantly changing with the shop goods displayed on all the walls. I have found many interesting gifts whilst drinking my coffee. In the warmer months it is nice to be able to use the small garden area at the rear of the property, seats are also put at the front of the shop where it overlooks the attractive Oval gardens. I am looking forward to the summer when I can take my little grand-daughters in for lunch, it is nice to see how welcome families are at the Banana Garden.

“The place is souper!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

This lovely little place on the Oval is part-shop (the front part has quirky, amusing household knick-knacks and signs like "Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another country!", and part-cafe. There is a large selection of home-made, delicious meals, and I am told on average 8 different soups on per day (today there are 11 options!). There are more than enough vegetarian options to keep anyone happy, and all the food and drinks are very reasonably priced. I particularly like the £1 coffee refills which goes well with the free WiFi. It has friendly, hard-working staff. I imagine the secluded outdoor area at the back would be lovely in summer to while away a few hours. It's open from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am-4pm on Sundays. This place is an absolute gem on so many levels!

“A nice change to the normal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

We normally visit the Banana Garden for Coffee and Crumpets - and nice they are too. The place is well maintained with great nick-nacks to view and buy while you sit and enjoy your drinks and food. I haven't tried anything from their lunch menu, but going on their customers and the numbers they have through the door it must be good.
I would definately recommend this venue for something different and querky.
