We have just returned from a break sampling the joys of Kent. We fell upon the Holt almost by accident and discovered it was a wonderful little oasis of calm to return to after days out viewing all the local sites. Kate Rundell and her husband, Tim, run this lovely place and nothing is too much trouble for them. They are most knowledgeable on the local places to visit and also the best places to eat etc.
The Holt has 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedded room, all ensuite, and they are finished to a very high standard. The decor is attractive and all Kate's little home touches are much appreciated, such as fruit, sweets, assorted teas & coffees, biscuits all being available in your room and she is more than happy for visitors to sit in her delightful garden to have their tea. All the rooms look over the gardens and these are full of birds and wildlife, as well as flowers. Breakfast is taken in the dining room with hens, squirrels and wild birds all outside the window and Kate provides home made bread and preserves together with locally sourced bacon, sausages etc. - all designed to start the day off just right.
Benenden itself is close to many of Kent's must-do's, such as Sissinghurst Gardens and numerous houses/castles. The Holt is situated on the edge of the village, within easy walking distance of two local pubs which provide excellent evening meals and the only task is to master staggering home by torchlight - great fun.
All in all a delicious B & B providing all the little extras to make for a delightful stay in Kent.
