I would prefer Crete - but am glad you found the Castle to be a great place. It would be great for us to have your return and find more out about the Castle.

We stayed here 24th March -27th, 2013, for my 60th birthday. It was just what we wanted..It was quiet and peaceful. We had Motty our collie with us and it was truly doggie friendly. The walks we did from the hotel were wonderful for us and for the dog. There were interesting attractions locally and it was a a very much deserved relaxing break despite the freezing temperatures. The history of the castle was fascinating.too. Our room was warm and cosy with plenty of space. The food was very good with excellent service. Many thanks to Beth for making us feel at home and Motty too. The girls on reception are very helpful . Motty sulked the day after we got back, i think he was missing it despite us living by the sea! We certainly will be returning. Thanks to everyone there for a great stay.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms are great if you have a dog as there are doggy comfort areas close by but do...

Im glad you found the room warm and cosy - this has been quite a bad weather season - but we welcome our guests to enjoy the warmth and hospitality and the log fires too!..
There are plenty of things to do in the area and glad that the birthday treat went well.

We got married on 17th march in the beautiful theatre at Craig y nos castle.
We organised our wedding in just three weeks but Donna and the staff of craig y nos helped us to achieve everything we wanted even at such short notice
To say the staff were helpful would be a understatement.
Reception, food service and bar staff where all helpful beyond the call of duty and I'm sure even the cat helped out in its own little way.
We wanted a very informal day and the staff ensured we had everything as we wanted it, even a cheese and pineapple hedgehog.
The food was amazing with everyone who attended paying compliments to what they had eaten.
This is a stunning venue, the theatre is beautiful and the conservatory an ideal room for the reception being bright and airy. The smaller rooms between the bar and the conservatory are comfy and warm (everyone loves a good log burner).
The bridal suite was lovely complete with the biggest bath we had ever seen.
I would recommend this venue to anyone.
Having our wedding at Craig Y Nos meant we got an out of this world wedding at down to earth prices
Thank you to all concerned.

Thank you for your excellent comments, i am sure that Donna and the staff will also be happy to read them.

The great thing with the Castle,as you have found is that not only is the venue a "a one of a kind" place to have your event - but everyone will try to help you - beyond the call of duty to ensure that your day is that extra special day that you would have wished for.

Every event we do is unique to each guest and we try to make it different for each couple getting married at the Castle.

We are glad to have been a great help, and look forward to seeing you in the future.

Love to you both

We attended a wonderful wedding recently, the venue and location were impressive. The service was good in general, though as the Hotel/B&B reception was busy when we arrived, it didn't make great first impression as it was unattended and the staff were strained (even though there was a manager, I think, a few feet away in a small office by the door that I thought was the reception). We had been advised to take number 36 as this had more room for the cot (provided) for our toddler and our Moses basket for our newborn, however, the amount of mis-matched and unnecessary furniture (several low tables) in the room made it a little hard to accommodate luggage, car seat etc. Also the kettle was situated on a low table - not great with a toddler around - so we didn't bother (it all looked very un-appealing anyhow). The bed was nice, though the blanket appeared to have cat hairs on maybe? The room and en suite bathroom were clean, though the poorly fitted carpet, mildew stained sealant, cracked windowsill, large crack in the wall and toilet paper (?) stuffed in a hole didn't make the bathroom feel very clean. The soap, bubble bath and shampoo bottles seemed cheap and dated as did the novelty toilet seat! The shower screen along the bath only folded into the bath so I couldn't reach the taps without getting in to the bath (not great when my toddler had thrown up over herself during the wedding and I needed to quickly rinse her down in the bath before the speeches started!). The TV was very small, old and the remote control didn't work very well, ok, we didn't go to watch TV, but as I had to go up to the room early to babysit I did try to watch a film. I would have chosen another room when I booked but very few had baths and enough room for a cot - we considered staying elsewhere locally at a fraction of the 150 pounds per room per night but as we were part of the wedding party and with young children we really needed to stay there. In fact we stayed in the Swansea North Premier Inn the night before the wedding (as Craig y Nos wouldn't let us book the Friday night in case they had another wedding) and it was actually a better hotel room and facilities at £35 per room per night (breakfast extra). The Bridal/honeymoon suite was very lovely (although the bed was only a couple of feet away from the door, which was straight onto the busy stairs and corridor!) but it was a room that justified the £150 we paid for the room next door! I looked around for a feedback card or anyone/any signs asking for feedback so that I could tell them all of this personally, but the absence of any made me feel as though they didn't want to know...

Thank you for your feedback, it is valuable to hear comments from customers in order to rectify issues. We do either email (when an email address is available) or post feedback forms to the person who booked the room to get such feedback to see where we have gone
wrong and more importantly to put it right so it does not go wrong again.

I can confirm that we have just taken on another receptionist, so when one is showing our guests to their room the other can rain at reception, I appreciate that if one is showing someone to their room it means that guest perceives good service the other who is waiting may get a negative impression.

In relation to our tariff, generally all our rooms are the same cost on a wedding event and are based on a packaged tariff, compared to non wedding accommodation that varies from mid week to weekend tariffs and certain rooms would cost more. We do have some great accommodation deals.
Sadly as our weddings do book most weekends and take all our accommodation, it is not always possible to book that much in advance for the night before. Indeed recently we had weddings over a whole weekend including a Sunday meaning the Saturday wedding guests occupied the rooms on that night. Whilst I appreciate chained hotels can offer good value as they can offer volume bookings, they often lack the charm and ambience of a Castle and are unable to offer the location and venue for a wedding under one roof.

Rooms 35 and 36 are slightly older than other rooms yet in the main offer the same facilities however I will ask our maintainence and housekeeping to check the bathrooms for the concerns mentioned. As for the furniture we prefer the antique effect to fit in with the character but will check their child friendliness.

I am sorry the TV is perhaps not as modern as you would expect, most of our rooms do have flat screen tv, with DVD players and those with phones are also able to connect to the Internet.

As for hairs on the bed I will ask our housekeeping to give all the bedding a thorough clean and check, whilst it was possibly not cat hairs any animal hairs are not justified remaining on bedding.

It would be great if you could avail yourself to one of our accommodation deals in a family room, choosing from our website a room with the accommodation and facilities you wish in order
to see that that most of the time we get things right.

We got married here on the 9th March, and had an absolutely fantastic day, nothing was too much trouble for the staff (special thanks to Donna!), food was superb, and our little boy loved the long-suffering castle cat, who had to resort to hiding on a mantlepiece to escape from him.

The venue is truly magical, Honeymoon suite was gorgeous, and it was definitely an unforgettable day! We hope to return for an anniversary stay!

Thank you for your comments - we take all comments both positive and negative seriously. This helps us to iron out what we have done wrong, and where we can rectify it.

I am concerned though that without a date - i cannot ascertain what room and how it appears that everything we do was done so wrong.

As you can read in many of the reviews that our staff give a great service and as such - wearing b & w's if working within the Bar/Waitress front - or smart attire when working behind reception.

The rooms we heat to meet the needs of our guests and as such on occasions if the temperature is cold we do increase the duration of the heating - not least if asked we will turn the heating in.

I think the world vile is slightly exaggerated - we furnish the Castle to keep in line with an antiquated and quirky experience that you would expect in a Castle (that was built in the mid 1800's)

As for pricing we have a number of tariffs based on the event type, size the clients requests and dates and i am sure that every customer will find something affordable.

With regards to the food - i am not sure what you attended the Castle for - and i cannot quantify your comments as to date i have had not adverse comments based on unacceptable food - based on the recent months comments no one else has experience the same level of service you have.

However - i apologise if feel that we did not give the level of service you were expecting and if you care to contact me giving me dates, and room numbers i would be more than glad to look into it. We also email and send our customers feedback forms - of yet i do not appear to have one that mirrors your comments - i shall keep my eyes open for it.
