“Excellent Pony Trekking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

W.e didn't stay at the Stables, however we did book pony trekking for myself, my wife and our 2 adult children. The daughter of the owners welcomed us and was really cheerful and efficient. Our horses were all prepped and ready for us and we enjoyed a delightful 2 hours trekking in the Brecon Beacons. The horses were very forgiving and enabled us to enjoy the superb scenery. Not cheap, but definitely good value. If you fancy doing some horse riding in the Beacons, this is definitely the place to visit.

Not a horsey person, but we stayed here to attend a friend's wedding at the rather expensive Craig y Nos which is across the road. The lady in charge was an excellent host and ensured that service was excellent and breakfast was just right to set us up for the day ahead.

Room Tip: The family room is a monster, just right for larger families.

We stayed here to attend a family wedding at the Craig y Nos. Service was excellent and breakfast was excellent. The room was very spacious with pretty views from all the windows. We would definitely go again and hopefully see the horses next time!

We had a lovely 3 night stay here which we combined with some great riding. Room was nice, breakfasts delicious, welcome was warm and horses friendly! Nine year old daughter really enjoyed the riding and stable management, and it was great that we could book this flexibly on the day. Nice pubs near by for evening meals, and the scenery was spectacular. Lots to do and see in the area if you're not into horses - the National Botanic Gardens of Wales particularly recommended. We'll be back!

My wife and I plus most of our family stayed at the Pentre Riding Stables in Craig y nos at the end of May because we was attending a wedding at the castle which was just across the road and charging twice as much a night. We originally booked for two nights and then extended our stay for another night because we enjoyed it so much. The owner Karen was extremely helpful and friendly and was the perfect host. Our room was large, clean and spacious with a large walk in wet room as en suit. The room had all the facilities you would need with plenty of storage space. There are plenty of local walks with some breath taking views. For value, comfort and hospitality this well worth a staying at and a lot cheaper option than the castle for those with a limited budget.

We have just returned from an excellent weekend break at the stables.
Karen the owner is great and can't do enough for you. The B&B interior is done to a high standard. The rooms are well furnished and the shared bathroom is lovely and spotless. The breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty.
We did a 2 hour pony trek whitch was great success with my 13 year old daughter. Everyone is very welcoming and ensured we were safe at all times. They helped to made our weekend break as wonderful as it was
The location is amazing and stunning. The country park opposite the B&B has a cafe that serves the most wonderful food at a sensible price. The pub down the road (bit to far to walk) served a great range of beers and the restaurant was fully booked from 6pm - that says it all I think.
Will we be back ???? -OH yes without a shadow of a doubt. and making plans already :)
