“First fail at the George”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

We have eaten good meals at the George in the past. On this occasion our party had a reservation for Sunday early evening. First problem - no reservation. But to the staff's credit they found us a table. Second problem - no Sunday roast dinner options remaining. We ordered from the main menu. Starters were OK but a main course 'rib eye' was definitely NOT a rib eye cut but a rump. We were also brought the wrong vegetables, and had to ask for the side order chips to be brought.
I really hope this was a blip - The George was always considered a safe bet amongst my friends and it would be a real shame if the service and quality have deteriorated.

“Long wait”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

We booked a table for last night at 8.30 pm for 6 people. Our table was not ready and had to wait longer to be seated. Staff friendly, good menu choices but the service is exremely slow!
We had to remind the waiter to take a starter order and then remind him again to serve it after another long wait. We had a further long wait for our main course. It is strange that when you want the bill they see to that straight away!

Was told that the service was slow before I booked but needed to make up my own mind . Yes strongly agree poor service!

“Made to feel special”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

I went to this restaurant in Hayes, near to Bromley in Kent, for my wedding anniversary. We were given a lovely candlelit table and complimentary champagne. The service was excellent, very attentive. The food was good, not excellent, but just good. The restaurant is furnished very well, it is clean, comfortable and welcoming

“Slow and noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

I visited this pub/restaurant last night (16 Oct) with three of my girl friends. We had booked for 8 and arrived at 7.30 and were shown to our table. We then sat for over 10 minutes before being offered drinks. We ordered a sharing small pizza with goats cheese tomatoes and basil which was probably a reasonable size for sharing as a small starter. We waited absolutely ages for our main courses - the waiter took our orders initially and then came back to us to say that there was no fish pie left - two of us had ordered it so we then had to make another choice. We seemed to be there for an awful long time before the food finally came out. One of my friends ordered the Salmon which came out and looked very pretty but the piece of salmon was very small indeed. I had a large duck salad which was ok - the duck was more than crispy and didn't really have a great deal of taste but the vegetables it was served on were quite tasty. The lamb dish and prawn and scallop pasta were both fine. We didn't order desserts and had two filter coffees. One bottle of white wine and one vodka and slimline tonic which came to over £90 which I have to say I thought was expensive considering we had a shared starter between the four of us and no extra side dishes or desserts. It was busy for a Tuesday evening but the time we had to wait was a bit excessive. We sat next to the bar and coffee area which I have to say was extremely noisy especially when the coffee was being made.

I wouldn't rush back here - it was ok but nothing to get too excited about and it certainly isn't a cheap pub meal.
