“A unique experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

We stayed at the treehouse at North Hill Farm in Chorleywood. The house is literally that, a tree house suspended one storey up and accessed by a somewhat irregular set of stairs and a cable supended walkway. The house itself is small and cosy but well designed with everything to hand. It looks out over open farmland with horses, birds and rabbits. It is a most relaxing and comfortable place to be yet is a brief drive or 20 minute walk and 40 minute tube ride from the middle of London. It is just a few minutes off the M25 so very handy for heathrow and the other motorways. Breakfast (continental) is brought up in a basket by your hosts the Clarks. The shower is outdoors but private. We found it a terrific alternative to a traditional bed and breakfast, but we still had access to amenities such as wifi and ironing in the main part of the farm. Our hosts were very helpful and flexible, allowing us a late checkout, and gave us useful tips on the local area.

Squirrel Run is truly wonderful and if you're looking for a romantic getaway for 2, look no further. Situated up in the trees and surrounded by glorious countryside it will forever be a magical memory for myself and my partner.

We Booked the field for our wedding reception and the treehouse for our wedding night. The Wedding Was great - we used all outside suppliers and did the liaising and coordinating ourselves. But very disappointed with the service from the site. Treehouse had good novelty factor to stay in but no effort was made by the staff to made it 'special' for us - despite talk of champagne and a hamper. A poor mans continental breakfast was delivered in the morning. Upon complaining we were offered a night 'on the house' - we haven't rushed to take them up on this! The field is an awesome site for an outdoor reception (ours was in a tipi) but make sure you are hot on your expectations from the site team.

We stayed here for 1 night in July in the Family room. Spacious room with 5 main beds, 1 King size, 1 double, 1 single and a campbed as well if you want it. It also has a large bathroom with corner bath a separate walk in shower.
Its 5 minutes from the Warner Brothers studio tour and we found the owners to be charming and helpful.
The farm is an eclectic mix of the main building, log cabins, outhouses, camping sites, tents, caravans, and fields. The ponys, cats and dogs around the farm are charming and you can walk down through the country trail to the nearest pub in Chorleywood called The Gate for dinner, not cheap but great quality.
Fantastic freshly cooked breakfast in the dining room with a view into the stables, kids loved it.
Its a great B&B not a chain hotel and most of the negative comments ive read on here seem to be based on that expectation.

stayed in the Tipi. what can I say, for 40 quid, I expected something more than just plywood flooring. Tipi had a tear in the front and therefore, freezing cold at night and insects such as beetles, ants on the plywood and spiderwebs inside the tipi. Signs in the outdoor toilets telling you not to put things in the toilet and to use the bin but there was none. no service whatsoever. thought at least there would be hot water but there wasn't. save your money and don't come here!

Just came back from a stay in the treehouse, who knew paradise would lay just 2 miles off the M25? We were greeted with a warm welcome, taken to the treehouse and asked if everything was ok and also given a mobile number if we needed anything during the night.
The treehouse itself is amazing, beautiful views from the balcony doors, everything you could possibly want in room, Tv/DVD with selection of DVDs, large fridge with real milk and bottled water and enough space to put your own food or drink. Available were 2 types of tea, instant coffee, filter coffee, hot chocolate and nuts and biscuits to snack on.
Room itself was clean and the bed was amazingly comfortable, you won't be cold even in winter although the room has a heater if needed. The toilet is inside and the shower is out on the balcony which is covered and is a lovely experience to do.
We were also given a tip on a pub to go to for a meal called The Boot which is less than 10 mins by car, the food there is amazing and reasonably priced.
We opted to have the cooked breakfast in the main bed and breakfast building which was lovely with a selection of cereals, fruit juice and fresh fruit. The dining room also has a nice view into the stables so you can see the horses.
Overall this was a lovely experience, the area is a lovely countryside area, very quiet. They also have facilities for camping.
Even with our typical British weather (thunder and rain!), it made our stay in the treehouse even more cosy. Thank you for a lovely experience, we would definitely stay again.

We got to the area an hour before the 2pm check in and popped in just in case the room was ready. It wasn't which was fair enough so we asked for a lunch recommendation and came back at 2.30. As we parked up we saw we had a msg on our phone from the cleaner saying she was out but the room wouldn't be ready until 4pm. This was an inconvenience to us as we'd planned to unpack and then head out at 4pm. So we called her back. She was really very abrupt with us telling us that it was her day off and she worked all week and a huge inconvenience for her to come in on the weekend - she would be back at 4pm and that was that.

Now, I understand that sometimes things come up and I'm happy to be flexible if necessary but the fact that the owner had not mentioned to us that our check in would be delayed when we popped in earlier or that we didn't have any sort of apology from either the owner or the cleaner (who made it sound like our fault she had to come in) wasn't acceptable and I told her so. So we came back at 4pm and the cleaner huffed and puffed then threw the keys at us.

We would have left right then but we had been really looking forward to our stay in the treehouse - it was special occasion and my inlaws had come down especially to babysit.

The treehouse itself was lovely - and breakfast the next morning very good.
We had almost forgiven the drama of check in until we tried to check out. We went to the main house at the 11am check out time but no one was there. We rang the bell, we wandered around, we shouted hello. Nothing. So we rang the phone number but it went through to voicemail. We left a message saying as no one was around and there was no note saying when they'd be back we'd had to go. Please would they call us to let us know if they would prefer us to send a check or transfer money for the payment.

On Monday my husband received a phone call from the owner who told him that as we had 'just run off' she'd taken the money off the card we'd used to reserve the room. I find this completely unacceptable as a principle. When he explained that they weren't around when we came to check out she told him they'd been at church. that's great but how about telling your customers that you won't be around at check out in that case? And agreeing to settle the bill at check in? But don't accuse your customers of 'running off' when there was no one around AND we'd left a message on the phone. The end result is that she agreed to give us a discount by sending us a check. That was almost 2 weeks ago and we haven't received anything yet. Do you think we will?

Such a shame because the place itself is lovely.
