“Second visit and even more fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

We stayed here Bank holiday Monday - Friday of half term, this time in Valley Yurt. We enjoyed this visit even better than last year's, despite the awful weather!!!! Valley Yurt was gorgeous, although this one does have windows and no curtains!!!!! - towels worked very well. It got quite chilly and the log burner in the yurt was fab. It was lovely and peaceful and even though the small children were playing and exploring, they did not disturb the tranquillity. The toilets and kitchen were spotless and the showers were lovely and hot. The woodland setting is beautiful, other yurt sites we looked at were just in fields and did not have the atmosphere that you get in the woods. We loved that the barbeques and wood burners etc were all made from recycled materials as was the bed. It is wonderful that the owners provide recycling bins for all materials (just a shame that not everyone used them!!!!) and eco-friendly washing up liquid etc... well done Julia and Mark - it is beautiful.

Room Tip: Yurts much more spacious and cosy than tipis

We stayed here bank holiday weekend 2013. Arriving very late we were welcomed by a very accurate map, luckily we had bought our own torches! not a problem as we wheeled our belongings through the yurt Village but getting down from the car park required some light!
Magicalfrom the word go! the children loved every minute. Rope swings, tyre swings, acres of wood to run in. For teh first time ever I relaxed as they disapeared out of sight!! We saw Badgers, Squirrels (cheeky squirrels who will have your food if you leave it out!)
All the facilities perfect a good mix of Eco and practical. A lovely walk down to the New Harp Inn at Hoarwithy and a cycle in the forest of Dean, although to be fair there was enough to do without leaving the site.

Room Tip: Yurts are much more luxurious than TIPIS!!

We spent a long weekend here at the beginning of June, never having stayed in a yurt before. We stayed in little owl yurt at the top end of the site and it was fantastic. The yurt itself was beautifully appointed and clean. The outside area of our own, with open fire and benches was great. There were no restrictions about making fires and you could really 'get back to nature'. Being able to wander in the woods to collect your own wood was great. The kitchen (shared between 3 yurts and 1 tipi) was excellent and it was a fantastic idea giving each yurt/tipi their own fridge. Toilets and showers were spotless.
We are hoping to return next year.

Well what a holiday!! We stayed in the 'Little Owl' Yurt from Monday 25th June - Friday 29th June (today) and had the most fantastic time. Oliver my 3 year old son cried when we left, a sure sign that he totally enjoyed himself. The woodland is safe and fun for all the family. The kitchen is well equipt and clean with hot water at all times which made showering an enjoyable experience which is rare when in the outdoor environment. This is GLAMPING at it's best. The simplicity of nature at its very best. We did the 2 mile walk through the fields, past the painted Gyspy caravan site to the pub (so exciting for children and great beer for the adults, Otter Ale), visited Ross on Wye, Hereford, Brecon Steam Railway and also did the family 12 mile bike ride around the Forest of Dean. Mark who runs the site was extremely helpful providing us with details of places to visit. We were in the top end of the site and had the kitchen and shower areas to ourselves as the other 2 yurts that shared these facilities were empty during our stay. It was great not to hear or watch a TV, no media just campfires, being woken by the birds, BBQ's and family funtimes. A holiday we won't forget. We will definately be booking for next year. Well done, you so have it right!! Shabby chic at it's bestest!! I have recommended you to all my facebook friends.

Room Tip: I had a good look at all the tipees and yurts and all were very simular, cute and comfortable. The...

We have just spent a lovely few days at this beautiul site. Our children aged 4 and 8 had the mot amazing time being free to run in acres of wodland and fields with their tribe of friends whom were established by 6pm on arrival day. This naturally led to peaceful evenings for us in said idyllic setting by the campfire. The area was very scenic but no child friendly pubs nearby. Watch out for crafty squirrels! Will definitely come again

We stayed at Woodland Yurts and Tipis as a last minute break on Saturday/Sunday this week; Julia was really helpful dealing with our last minute booking.
The yurts are lovely, king sized beds, wood fire stove, lanterns and plenty of rugs and blankets. It was lovely to wake up in the mornings and see the blue sky through the skylight. Each yurt has its own picnic table, hammock and campfire area. there are also lots of communal tables set under shelters. There are fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms with electricity, so you don't quite have to be without all mod-cons! Everything has a lovely shabby chic theme and was really gorgeous.
Nearby are a couple of nice pubs and plenty of good walks.

Room Tip: Woodpecker yurt was at the far end of the yurt "village" and seemed the most private.
