We went to this restaurant as a belated celebration for our 16th wedding anniversary.
The venue: It is situated at a nondescript street a stone's throw from Eccles train station. The frontage is very un-assuming and you will not think of it as a highly rated restaurant until you see the signage. The train station's parking lot acts as the nominated space for its clientele. It is easily accessible for disabled people. The interior design and ambiance is very minimalist as compared to other Asian restaurants that capitalise on orientalia bordering on the gaudy and garish. The choice of the lay-out and furniture used for dining was well thought of- very Spartan and simple. These were cleverly done so the main reason for the experience shines through.
The food: For the lovers of Chinese food- this is gustatory nirvana. No silly fusion nonsense here. Just simply gorgeous Chinese food. They aim to shock the palate into humble submission, not by overly done presentation but with distinctive tastes of the orient. People who regularly eat Chinese take-away food will be surprised to know that there is a variety of tastes and textures as opposed to the uniformity of fried/stir-fried and sauced-up food they get.
We went a la carte instead of going for the set menus because it is the best way to gauge the greatness of a restaurant. And they passed with flying colours!
The service: The all-asian staff were very polite, unobtrusive, friendly and well versed on Asian food. As I went to the toilets( which were immaculate and pristine), I was able to peek at the kitchen and felt relieved that all the chefs were Chinese.
We will definitely be going back very soon!
