After spending 3weeks travelling all over Italy, we spent our last day enjoying a traditional Sunday Italian Long Lunch in the hilltop village of Caprese Michelangelo.
Overnight snow had made the roads a little icy but both levels of the restaurant were packed with locals and once we started eating we saw why. The food is authentic and plentiful.
I would suggest on planning to arrive no later than 12.15 in order to get a good car park. You can enjoy sensational views while you wait.
We sat down at 1pm for the degustation menu. We were glad we arrived hungry.
Courses are served continuously and for the seriously hungry there are seconds offered on most courses. However I suggest that most people will want to pace themselves in order to be able to finish.
In spite of eating adventurously for 3weeks we still encountered dishes here we hadn't see before.
Every single course was excellent. There is a continuous flow of bottled water and red wine, and at €30 each all up this was pretty sensational value.
The restaurant was full of happy Italian families and the ambience was delightful. The staff are excellent and very accomplished.
We left feeling very content, and will return on our next visit to Italy.
