“Huge, new, central hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

I spent 2 nights over Chinese new year in Grand Mandarin Betong Hotel.

Big and efficient hotel in the center of Betong. Room big, clean, with a good bed. Big bathroom with a separate shower.

Customers are mostly Malaysian Chinese. The breakfast buffet is for Chinese palate, but there are some fruits.

Price 1.400 B. and 1.900 B the second night for a double.

stayed in this hotel in this hotel for 3 nights in december 2012. Generally, the price for a hotel of this quality is acceptable. The rooms are fitted with nice and comfortable beds that i consider thickly padded, Most of the room is carpeted except for the pantry area and there is a long "cloth" couch in the room. There is a fully filled minibar with some thai branded beer and bird nest, chicken essence etc, there will be 2 bottles of water in the room every morning, water from the minibar have to be paid for. The tv is obsolete of channels, there is only 1 english channel. Their bathroom has a "marble" decor, with a separate shower and bath tub, large basins for washing of face, nothing to rave about. The best part about staying in this hotel is the centralised control which controls all the light, except for the lights in the toilet, tv, do not disturb/make up room and air cond. It also has a built in alarm clock, which is particularly handy. Within the hotel, everybody would have no problems conversing in Cantonese, some can speak chinese. The receptionist can speak english. We tried room service and they have a good range or random thai food on offer, beware of the taxes though. The lobby of the hotel has a nice water fountain and they have a bell captain. The worst part of this hotel is the restaurant, in the morning, there is always no seats even after turning up 10 minutes after the start of breakfast, the people working there will ask you to get lost when you approach them. Terribly rude, until i decided to make a ruckus out of it, was my family of over 20 people offered seats in another part of the restaurant, usually for vips. The location of this hotel is generally good, being in a small town, however, there is a small family cemetery nearby, which can be particularly disturbing, but there is no other better choice for a hotel in betong. They accept MYR, just like the rest of betong.

Room Tip: the higher the better, not much difference in views as there is nothing exciting to be looking at.

Yes...It is the best hotel in Betong with the cheat price and nice service.
Firstly, The name of Hotel is Grand Mandarin Betong Hotel.
As I heard from staff, this hotel just soft opening, and open some floor to serve.
Anyway, I really love my room on 25floor and breakfast was perfect.
Love You Betong!!

Room Tip: FYI You should find hotel's information from internet.. Such as facebook/grandmandarinbetong H...

very cheap rate. The room is very big and comfortable. The breakfast provided also average good. We stayed at the highest floor, you will get surprise when you look out from your window in the early morning, it look like Genting, Cool.....fresh.

Yes it's the best in Betong. I won't rate it that low like 2 star. The interior decor is presentable and rooms are spacious and toilet of a nice size not too small. Most importantly it's clean. It sit on high ground with a good view of the whole town. There's a swimming pool on the 6th floor which is underused. There is a Chinese Restaurant. Nearby within a few minutes walk is a park and open spaces where the health conscious can exercise, linedance or practice Taichi.

The service staff are not attentive as it should be for a hospitality business. It's not cheap to make both local or overseas calls from the hotel. You'll have to purchase a local sim card to enjoy cheaper rates. Breakfast is so so. Room supplies are incomplete; not slipper, bath robes, shoes polish, tooth brush and paste. TV is a small 21" ooutdated console.

Called itself 5 star but more like a 2 star. Still this is the best in Betong. For RM138 you get a huge clean room with jacuzzi. Nice.

Betong is well is known for probably the world's largest mailbox, the remains of a communist hideout, good food, discos that start at 11am and ends at 2am, and the oldest profession.

Nice hotel to chill even if for people watching.
