Our first day on the beach, just bumming around we ended up at La Gaviota. We ordered beers. They came. We waited about 30 mins and no one said anything more to us. Asked for the specials or a menu, and we were told that the waiter would be right back, he never came. I speak native Spanish so it wasn't a result of a communication gap. The table next to us, a family of six said they had ordered food an hour before. I went back to the kitchen and nothing was happening. No food being prepared at all. It was hilarious really. So bizarre that no one working there said anything to us, or the other party... When I asked if there was any food at all they said it was coming.
Maybe it was coming off the fishing boat? Totally possible, but it would have been nice for them to give us the heads up on the wait when we sat down. Apparently they have great food. Bummed I didn't get any.
We followed the other party to Pili's Kitchen and I pretty much stayed stayed there eating for two weeks.
