“Improvement and Imagine needed on beer choices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Both my company and family have used this hotel and restaurant for many years and it has always been very good. In 2012 we had our best steak( ribeye) here of any restaurant that we visited in the UK, France and Belgium. A visit this week maintained the high standard of steak(rump) but there was one quite serious niggle. Spending a lot of time in the Bordeaux area we enjoy wine but when in Belgium and the UK l also enjoy good quality beer. The choice here was dismal . Only one draught ale ( Theakstons) which was sour and had gone off and certainly not the fault of the brewery and the choice offered was either John Smiths or bottled Newcastle Brown Ale. When one considers the wealth of good local breweries and also a good supply of local bottled ale from some of the micro breweries this is not good enough. The staff were apologetic and handled the situation well but the hotel management should remember that there is a lot of nearby competition and all aspects of the meal are important

The hotel far exceeded my expectations, from the warm welcome from the Receptionist, to the bar and restaurant staff and the standard of the accommodation, to the quality of the meals.
The bedroom had a super king bed with en suite facilities, flat screen TV, hairdryer, safety deposit box and a courtesy tray (housing in one of cabinets).
The restaurant was very busy and although the service was slow the food was worth waiting for. Bar prices were not too high and the views of the sunset from the lounge were amazing.
There is a nine hole, 3 par golf course, adjacent to the hotel and you are able purchase a swipe card for the driving range.
The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. The breakfast was freshly made and very tasty.
Staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at this hotel.

It has been many years since I stayed in the north east, usually with family but circumstances this trip meant we needed to find a hotel - very glad indeed we found the Beamish Park Hotel, the refurbished rooms were a pleasant surprise, quality, spacious, well equipped and much better than expected, highly recommended, value for money and service with a smile.

Visited this hotel with husband and elderly disabled mother. From our first contact at check-in the staff went out of their way to be helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and our request to change a room with a shower to one with a bath was no problem. Our ground floor rooms were ideal for someone with disabilities and we were able to park right outside the sliding french doors and access the room from there. The rooms have all recently been renovated and our 'Spring into Summer' break was extremely good value. There was a large varied menu choice for dinner and all the staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful - offering advice about local attractions. The hotel also offered 25% discount on entry to Beamish Museum which is definitely worth a visit! Also worth a visit is a trip on the Tanfield Railway (steam train). It is about 1 mile from the hotel

We have just had a lovely stay at the Beamish Park Hotel this weekend.
I found it by chance as the Hotel that we usually use when visiting my Husbands's family in the North East was fully booked.
It was just an overnight stay, but what a lovely time we had.
The whole ambiance of the Hotel was wonderful..the oppulet colours and decoration, reminded us of the Middle East, but there were Fabulous views of the glorious English countryside...perfect.
The food was superb..we actually went back for Sunday lunch with the Family as we were so impressed.
We will certainly be going there in future...I am just sad that it is not closer to home as we would use it for dining out all the time.. Great place.

Room Tip: We had a downstairs room which had our parking space right outside..great for unpacking.

When we first walked in, we thought we were in genteel old club.

It turned out they had a function for a group of seniors … but the 2 young girls behind the bar welcomed us with a smile and soon set us at ease.

The restaurant was not quite silver service, but they were trying. I had Braised Rabbit in Cider, and my wife had Cod in Tempura Batter with mushie peas and hand cut chips.

Whilst not expensive, the meals were a little more costly than we were expecting, but the rabbit was definitely a cut above normal “Pub Grub” and the fish was good.
