“A bit of a let down”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

The only good thing about this hotel is the restaurant food, we did not have time to sample the spa facilities so will not be commenting on that. Reception staff are frosty and will do the strict minimum, however the restaurant staff are helpful and attentive. This is one of those places where you will see staff walk quickly around with self-important airs, very entertaining.

Breakfast is the usual full english plus what can be termed as an effort at continental.

The room is located in another building behind the main hotel. Tiny room with paper thin walls. Sleep quality is bad, the cleaning standards are doubtful. Although the heating was turned off, the room felt like a furnance all night and day. It was a bad experience and will not be repeated.

We felt very unwelcome from the start and could not wait to get out of there.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I was happy to read that you took the opportunity to dine with us and thoroughly enjoyed your experience of our restaurant.

I was disappointed to read your comments regarding the reception team, as you can read from many previous reviews this area of the hotel is almost always regarded very highly by our guests, as our staff pride themselves on the customer service they offer. I would like to point out that breakfast is available with two options; a Full English Breakfast and also a Continental option consisting of fruit juices and fresh seasonal fruits, a selection of cereals, natural and fruit yoghurts, croissants, pastries and toast, along with freshly brewed tea’s, coffee and hot chocolate.

The hotel offers a number of different room types all of which are meticulously and thoroughly cleaned each day to our own high standards. With regards to the room being ‘like a furnace’ I can only say that summer had eventually arrived, albeit for a short period. Many guests took this opportunity to enjoy a drink on the terrace whilst taking in the stunning views across the Somerset Levels.

Although we are always sad to see our guests leave, they are always welcome to return and enjoy the hotel and facilities, should you be visiting the area again in the future please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be only too happy to assist you with a reservation.

Thank you for choosing the BEST WESTERN Webbington Hotel and Spa, we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

I picked this out as an overnight stop on my way north.
Leaving the M5 at junction 22, with clear roads you should find the Webbington in 11 minutes. Leave your satnav at home like an idiot and it can take over 30.

I had made a late booking and ended up in a courtyard room. Up a flight of stairs with no lift, not a great room and a view of an earth bank just feet from the window.

So why isn't this review marked poor?
Well the receptionship was charming and did try to arrange an upgrade, but the hotel was full. Also the late barmeal was fine and again with pleasant helpful staff. The main building is attractive and I went to bed mellow enough to forgive some of the other faults of the place.

Would I go back? If I could be sure of a room in the main building, probably yes.

William.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I was glad to read that you found the hotel staff welcoming, friendly and helpful during your recent stay. It was also good to read that you took the opportunity to dine with us from our bar and lounge menu and enjoyed your experience and also that you found the hotel aesthetically in keeping with the surroundings.

Many of our rooms offer stunning views out across the Somerset Levels as far as the Bristol Channel. Should you require accommodation in the area at any future point please do not hesitate to contact the hotel directly and I can assure you of a warm and friendly welcome and if possible a room with a view.

Thank you for choosing the BEST WESTERN Webbington Hotel and Spa, we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

My husband and I recently stayed here for a weekend break for our 20th wedding anniversary. We upgraded to a room in the main house and it was lovely. The room was spacious and comfortable with beautiful views over the Mendip hills. The M5 slightly spoilt the view and you can hear the traffic, but once the window was closed it didn't bother us. We used the sauna, steam room and pool- a great way to relax after a busy day at Wells and Chedder!! The staff were all brilliant.
We only used the restaurant for breakfast, but found the service very efficient and the food was lovely. BUT please be warned that this hotel holds a lot of functions and weddings. The problem is that these guests also use the small lounge area and the terrace so there is nowhere to sit and relax with a drink. On the Saturday night, there were 2 weddings at the hotel. We had nowhere to sit, so we went and found a local pub ( The Woolborough Arms) where we had a fantastic dinner and drinks. When we returned we had to sit in our room and listen to the music booming through our room until 1.30am!! Not ideal!!

Room Tip: Check to see if there is a function on. The reception suggested we upgraded, but we would have been...

Thank you for your recent review. I was delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and found the hotel location and views out over the Somerset Levels ‘Beautiful’. It is always good to read when our staff has helped make a guests stay more enjoyable and I have passed on your comments to all concerned. It was also good to read that you took advantage of our leisure facilities and also our breakfast service and enjoyed both of these experiences.

I would just like to say that the hotel is a popular function and wedding venue and when the hotel is hosting such an event we always allocate rooms away from any noise disturbance to guests not attending the event. The lounge and terrace, especially on a sunny day are very popular with all hotel guests and we rarely find this to be a problem as we offer plenty of seating and tables, please accept my sincere apologies if you experienced any inconvenience during your stay.

Stayed here with my mum (me 34,mum 61), booked dinner b and b and twin room for 1 night.
We loved it, just what we were hoping for and more.
Every member of staff was excellent, from receptionist on arrival to the restaurant staff. Didn't really use the bar so can't comment there specifically but looked efficient. All staff were smart.
Leisure club was really good, huge and facilities great.
Best thing without doubt was the dinner. One of the best meals I have had in the past year. The tuna was perfectly cooked, the desserts fantastic (which is rare!). The choices were great.
I'd go back on a similar dbb deal. The sunny terrace was a bonus too.
If you like somewhere individual with genuine service. . book it!

Room Tip: If you have limited mobility this may not be the best hotel for you or ask for a low room if you wan...

Stayed here for 2 nights with my partner. Found the hotel decor a little tired but thats the only thing that could be complained about and its very minor. Spa facilities where excellent booked in for a hot stone massage with Sue and it was lovely. Room was good lots of space and bed very big and we got a lovely night sleep. Ate in the resturant on the first night food was well presented and very tasty. On the second night we drove into weston and had a lovely meal at Zeera indian worth a visit food is amazing. Staff are all very friendly and happy to help. Overall excellent stay and would return again.

Stayed in this hotel accidently. Arrived in the middle of the night and was met and accomodated by a very friendly receptionist named Josh (I think). The room was lovely with all necessary facilities, plus free wi-fi, the view of a country side created a nice atmosphere. We didn't have time to use spa facilities however other friends seemed to be enjoying it. Had a lovely walk around the place, completely relaxed and peaceful. Planning to go back for a longer period of time.

We have just returned from a long weekend at the Webbington Hotel where we stayed as part of a large group of Old Time Dancers. We had taken over the whole hotel and the staff did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. As events organiser for the Old Time Dance Society I had made all arrangements with Claire who was very efficient also special thanks to the reception team Rachel Jasmine and Jenny. The rooms were all fine and any small problems we had the staff did their best to sort. The Hotel catered very well with our large group, the food was excellent and the staff served the large group (108) quickly. We all arrived by car and there is ample car parking. A very enjoyable stay in beautiful surroundings. Many of our group took advantage of the excellent spa facilities.
