We always make a stop at Friars beach where they have facilities and beach restaurants before hiking over the hill to Happy Bay. Anyone there will tell you where to go and once on the path it is a 10-15 hike to get there...it will not disappoint..drop dead gorgeous!

We decided to check out Happy Bay based on a recommendation. You have to get to Friar's Bay first on the French side beyond Marigot by only a 10 minute drive. There is a adequate parking lot and now the road there is paved better so you don't lose your front end. Once you get to Friar's Bay you walk to the end of the beach and you will find a dirt path marked Happy Bay. It is a 20-30 minute hike up and down rocky terrain in some spots before you hit a smoother walk at the very end. Don't anyone tell you it's a 10 minute walk. Not true. However, once we got there it was worth the hike for sure. A beautiful, clean beach with smooth sand and calm water for snorkeling and no seaweed. There weren't many people there the day we went so clothing is optional. Very nice beach to spend the day and there is a snack bar also. Was pleasantly surprised and there was even some shady spots if you didn't bring an umbrella.

Just got back from St Martin and stayed at Happy Bay the Villa was beautiful as was Happy Bay Beach.
There was the weird old naked guy that that was at the beach every morning. He would walk up and just stand there staring at us. The beach was great really pretty place. One day a sail boat full of folks stopped by and started a naked Bocci ball game with coconuts, That was pretty entertaining.

Watsh out though,you may be surprised by the few cows with big horns that walk the little way that leads to this fantastic beach.The cows didnt annoy us at all but can look impressive!!not for the faint-hearted!Defenetly worth a look at!
