I can't really say anything much negative; it is expensive but the ambiance and service were excellent. The aluminum or stainless steel plates however don't fit in the dining experience; they look like prison canteen issue..not that I have personal experience about this. I also do not like paying $8 per vegetable side. It is nice that you can order off the Temptation menu if you wish.

Rare is a top steak house, and the proprietor / chef, Dino, is a wonderful guy. That said, the prices at this restaurant seem a little high, even for SXM. However, if you want a top prime steak in the Maho / Cupecoy area, Rare is your place.

This is a Top 10 restaurant in SXM for sure, if not a Top 5. I think the reason it doesn't get the credit it's due is because of the menu's limited variety - steak, steak, and more steak. If you want something a little more imaginative, go next door to their sister restaurant, Temptation. But if you want steak with some nice sides, this is the place. I've had the pleasure of eating at places like Peter Luger's in Brooklyn, the standard by which all other steakhouses are measured, and honestly, I think Rare is better. Dry aged US Prime cuts, expertly seasoned and cooked to order - need I say more? No, it is not cheap, but for the quality you get, it is a good value and worth every penny.

If you want the best steak on Sint Maarten, look no further. This is the sister restaurant to Temptation, which I think is the BEST restaurant on the island. BUT, this is immediately behind as a restaurant and the best steaks you'll ever taste. It is the same owner as Temptation and you can tell from the impeccable presentation to the superb taste of its steak. However, if you don't want a steak, the other items on the menu are exceptional as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
